Just be cautious with your expensive silver tips and the like! I haven't used it long enough to know if it will have any long term discoloration effects. Will would know more about the way that the ingredients work, and if it's simply a matter of washing it out in all cases.

By the way, Barrister_N_Mann would you be able to tell me what ingredient(s) may be responsible for reducing skin redness? My skin is very sensitive and I usually have some redness after a shave, but I've noticed with Night Music that I don't really have any redness at all.

I shaved with Night Music this morning. The lather quality was excellent, and I agree with onethinline in that there is a slight resemblance to PannaCrema Nuavia's lather consistency (which is a huge compliment IMO). I was very happy with the slickness and protection, and post-shave was excellent.

Yeah I found this a bit surprising (in a good way, ultimately), as this "Nuàvia-like quality" does not happen with Le Grand Chypre, which uses the first version of Glissant. Sounds like the safflower oil makes a significant difference. By contrast, though I much enjoy LGC, its lather seems pretty similar to earlier B&M soaps: sort of a thick, cold-cream or dense yogurt consistency. This new Glissant, on the other hand, is lighter, "fluffier" (not in a dry foamy way though; it's still wet), and seemed to get slick much, much faster. It's actually quite a new experience from a B&M soap.

(Contrast another tallow-lanolin-shea formula that's been tweaked: CRSW v1 versus v2, where v2's lather consistency is very similar to v1; for me it's just a bit trickier to dial the water in properly.)

Fascinating observations! Maybe it is indeed the result of the replacement with safflower. I wonder if Will knew that the lather would be changed in that way (in addition to avoiding allergies)? In any case, I like it and find it to be very slick from the moment it is applied to the face, and that's a huge plus for me as a lover of slickness.

To be fair, I could be mis-remembering just how LGC lathers, but I've used it a good number of times now and don't remember noticing a difference as striking as what I got from Night Music and the newest Glissant.

Mine hasn't arrived yet but I expected this; Same thing with Lavanille, love that soap but I don't use it as often cause it stains my brush for a little bit. It washes out after a few shaves with other soaps but I would prefer it didn't do that.

So would I. Unfortunately, there's no feasible way to counteract the vanillin oxidation when you use it in that kind of quantity.

Think of it as "patina" rather than "staining"  I see the brushes as tools that I use in the shaving process and I don't expect them to remain in "as new" appearance.  They can be beautiful tools no doubt and I certainly believe in the proper care and handling to maintain the beauty and function as best I can.  The best way to preserve those brushes is to avoid soaps that discolour them, which I don't want to do as those are some of the best soaps.  You could also use only black badger brushes or other very dark bristled brushes with those soaps if you feel that strongly about it and don't want to give up those soaps either.

This is my approach too - I got a designated brush (Simpson's P8 Phyl) to be used specifically with the Night Music and Lavanille. Still cannot decide which one I like better

That would be the allantoin. We increased the allantoin content of the base several fold in Glissant vs. White Label and the effect has proven to be rather more pronounced than I originally anticipated. I'm quite pleased with how effective it's turned out to be.

Thanks for the info! It was mentioned that allantoin has this property somewhere on this forum (maybe even this thread), but I wasn't sure that this could account for my results by itself. I've used a few other products with allantoin and they don't usually have such an obvious and immediate effect. Must be the quantity!

Used the NM this morning and was very impressed. The Glissant base is great - effortless lather. The scent is also spectacular, second only to Fougere Aromatique. This got me thinking as to why Will doesn't create a cologne/EdT/EdP to match his soap...maybe this has been asked elsewhere...

Hi Will, not sure if this was asked before but is the Lavanille glissant based already? I bought one a month ago and I was having a conversation with a fellow shaver about that.

When are we going to have Seville and Cheshire in the new formula?
