I use a Stork handle with mine so I see no issues with using any standard threaded razor handles.

One of the best SE razors ever produced in the Artist Club realm and just for the sake of a healthy discussion, one could argue that it could be the best razor ever made regardless of blade format. The blade melds seamlessly into this razor and it just produces one of the softest skin feeling performers while being ruthlessly efficient on the whiskers regardless of daily or a full two weeks worth or more of beard growth. The price is the biggest negative with the La Faulx but, that argument has existed since the beginning when men decided they wanted to look presentable in all facets of life and needed something sharp to bring down the whiskers. The Paradigm Ti SE was one of the smoothest razors I’ve ever tried but, for me lacked the cutting ability that I required. The La Faulx equals that level of smoothness if not surpassing the Paradigm altogether. It really is a phenomenal razor and if I were to recommend to anyone on this planet that had the funds to acquire any razor ever made that combined all attributes of ease of use, feel on skin and it’s elite level craftsmanship, the La Faulx would definitely be in the top 1% of that recommendation.

GlazedBoker, what is the plate level you’re using in this description? I have the Classic (mildest) plate and it’s my #1 razor, but I’ve always been curious how the + plate compares (or even the ++).

I have the + plate set up for this particular shave. I have the ++ which I have not used since purchasing the razor a few months ago as I usually change the blade that I would like for a particular shave. The Feather Pro is a workhorse for me and delivers practically in every SE AC styled razor that I own. If I want a more efficient or slightly more blade feel on a shave, instead of upping the plate size I’ll go with a Feather Pro Super as it has a slightly wider blade profile. That width & more acute blade edge delivers a more aggressive shave feel while not being overly aggressive or intimidating. When I used the La Faulx with the Classic plate in a pass around a little over a year ago, the Feather Pro Super was the perfect combination for me in that particular set up. The Schick Proline works exceptionally well as it has been arguably the smoothest of all AC blades that I’ve sampled but, it lacked efficiency in the Classic plate for me. Not saying that it wouldn’t work for others, it just didn’t work for me all that well in the standard plate. I haven’t tried the Proline in the + plate as of yet and that might be my next foray into workable blade/plate combos on my La Faulx.

Sorry my friend as I can not answer that question for you. I live in the US. However, I’m pretty sure that there are shave forum members here that are based in the UK & Europe that will chyme in soon enough with more information concerning lead times & availability for Atelier Durdan products. As of this writing, there is a lead time of about 2-4 weeks for not in stock items. Whether that encompasses both US & European consumers, I can’t say. I will say this though. Whatever time frame it is, it will be completely worth the wait. Augustin is excellent with his customer service (in my experience he’s been very accommodating) so, just drop him an email of inquiry and go from there.

Absolutely. And a correction. The lead times are more like 4-7 weeks…

Thanks very much for your detailed reply! My favorite blade in my La Faulx with the Classic plate is the Schick Proline. It's the smoothest, and I get a close shave with very little risk of nicks or cuts. I can go ATG under my nose without any fear. But it's not as close a shave as my stainless Blackbird with a Gillette Silver Blue.

I have tried the Feather Pro Super in my La Faulx, and I felt like I was scraping a layer off my face. So this may mean the + plate would be too much exposure for me. Maybe I'll try the Pro Super again and see how it goes...
