ASB Recommendations for Winter?

Winter is nearly here in the Midwest (Iowa)

My skin, like many, dries out in the winter.

What ASB recommendations can the forum offer? I've got some Paladin, but it will run out eventually.

What else might I consider? Unscented, preferably, so it doesn't compete or collide with an aftershave or the soap itself.

I wholeheartedly recommend Declaration Grooming liniments if you can get your hands on any. There were discontinued a while ago, but it's the best balm I've ever used. I think Pasteur's still has some stock as another kind wetshaver from NY got some for me. They don't have any unscented though. That one will be very hard to find. I've also heard very good things about Chatillon Lux's new line of skin salves, which they do have an unscented version of.

The ABC balms are the best for me. Outrageously expensive but subtle quickly fading scent and absolute best healing properties bar none

Soap Commander & Stirling balms perform well for me and both offer unscented versions.

Wholly Kaw's balm is available unscented and works great on dry skin. A little goes a long way. For more moderate weather, I use the WK toner instead.

I LOVE Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB. If you don't like a lot of menthol the regular mentholated and un-mentholated versions are great too!

chatillon lux's salves are great for the winter - can be a bit much for the hotter months though.

aside from the balms and such, have you tried using bath soaps with goat milk in it? I find that they keep my skin way more hydrated in the dry NE winters than tallow and/or olive oil soaps.

Typically I look for winter soaps with shea butter (Shea Moisture is one brand)

Thanks for the recommendation on goat's milk. I'll shop for that. I'm always trying various artisan/kitchen-crafted soaps.

Unrefined Shea butter. Not kidding gents. This stuff is my daily go-to. I use just a touch in summer and a tad more in winter. It absorbs into skin and seems to form a vapor barrier that keeps my skin hydrated even in my cold, dry Idaho winters.

Why do you guys say WK balm and CL salve are more for winter? Are they that "goopy" for lack of a better word? Or is it that they moisturize so well that it's good when skin is dry in winter but overkill when it's summer and skin isn't as damaged?
