Anything that can go wrong will happen while I'm shaving...

Another great shave last night with the "new" Astra SP. I plan to keep to this blade for the next few weeks to be certain it was the printed version that was causing a ruckus. If that is the case, I'll order 300 more of these to replace the 3 boxes of printed blades.

I've used the Central Texas Soaps Cowboy spice for a bit now. I am really loving this scent. The base is absolutely "basic", but does the job fine. Nonetheless, I am going to get a tub of 345 Shipwreck, as I read it has the same exact scent. If reviews are to be believed, that'll be a better soap by a lot. Then I can keep the CTS as a backup.

Fwiw, for anyone who also likes this scent (or just to share what I uncovered)... Stirling Triumph is supposed to be based on the same cologne, but has a different smell than Cowboy/Shipwreck. My next Stirling Bat soap order will include a bath bar of Triumph, so I can see how it is / varies.

We'll, the 345 Shipwreck soap arrived this evening. It does smell the same as cts cowboy spice, only quite a bit stronger. The performance, for me, was about the same. I wonder if that isn't due to the scent oils causing irritation? Could also be the sunburn I got today. We've been out all afternoon at festivals. We'll see as time goes on.

Nonetheless, it was a good shave. Used the Astra Laser SP for shave #3. Probably its last run, but a good shave was had.

Sorry the Shipwreck was irritating Paul.  As you say, it might just be the sunburn, or it could be the scent oils.  In addition, Shipwreck contains lanolin, which is something to consider if you have a history with lanolin. 

Not saying you didn't use any sunscreen, but with rosacea, I *must* use sunscreen every day. My morning drive has the sun shining in on my left side. I try applying some every time I go outside, even if just walking from my car into work.

Aloe gel is your friend for sun irritation, in most cases! Hope your face feels better soon!

Thanks Eric. It's not too bad, at least for me. With my light skin and freckles, I'm a veteran of sunburn. I did apply sunscreen, but I did it late in the day and didn't reapply thereafter.

I'm not in summer mode yet, I suppose.

Thanks Mike. I very well may have a sensitivity to lanolin. I'm too lazy to pay close attention to the ingredients. Also, I'm too prone to irritation to kick a soap out on the first mark. In fact, I think I'm prone to irritation from so many other things, it's difficult to pin down what the cause is at any given time.

That said, I see lanolin in some soaps I'm cautious with... So it could be a minor one for me. Ya never know. Regardless, I'll probably give this a try again when the sunburn is gone. Either way, it wasn't too bad. So, sunburn or irritant, I could probably live with it anyway.

This afternoon I broke out a new Astra SP (laser) blade and my favorite summer soap - Savannah Sunrise.

Typically this is a super shave for me. However, it was a bit more agitated today. Also, again a few nicks likely from raised, agitated skin?

I'm pretty convinced it has to be the sunburn. Definitely makes me feel good that it might not be the new soap.

It’s good to hear that sunburn is a likely culprit, because sunburn can be dealt with. Eric aka MaineYooper has both professional and personal experience here, but FWIW I also find Aloe Vera gel is good medicine for sunburn. For me it is second only to a preemptive high SPF ointment.

It's not even that much of a Sunburn. I don't feel it, but I can see the added color. Still, it makes sense that even a light burn is going to make the skin sensitive to a razor repeatedly scraping it.

Thanks Mike. I do have some aloe, I'll probably start using it just to speed along the healing. It's an uphill battle for me in the nice weather.

I was supposed to shave last night, but I held off so I could do a morning Birthday Shave. Nothing special, just a soap that called to me at the time. Same Astra Blade (shave #3) I had been using in the same Overlander. Nonetheless, a very nice shave... And a great start to the day.
