Nice Paul. I dig that shirt.

Also, I didn't know you had a badass goatee!

Lol. Badass is quite the wrong word for it. Nonetheless, thanks Paul!

I guess I should clarify... It's not actually a goatee. I have the moustache, so it's categorized as a VanDyke? Fwiw, I don't know who makes this crap up, lol.

Nonetheless, it's actually the only facial hair I'm allowed to wear without pain from the follicles. I've had it for decades and won't remove it for fear the chin will also go the way of the rest of the face. What I mean is: after about a week or so of non-shaving the hair follicles get red and angry (and painful)... Like folliculitis?

As I've said before (probably ad nauseam) I'm a ginger with very sensitive skin and copper wire for hair. I do what I can with what God gave me (or punished me with?). Lol.

There we have it... Show and tell Fridays. [Image: 7860070c9b867fbbdfe50a53e408ad6c.jpg][Image: ffebbd5ac65a8349330c5776c1b58f7a.jpg]

I like the look, and agree with M. Trotter: badass indeed! If you took to scowling, snarling, and excessive outbursts of profanity, and some leather and chains, you could apply to your local biker gang club for membership  Tongue

Back in the summer of '85, after an exhausting year at college, I applied and got a job in the rough mill of a furniture plant, third shift. Whoa, eye-opening for this middle-class boy used to polite company! I quickly adopted the dress code of pocket tees (w/o the pack is cigs rolled up) and grew, I kid you not, a Fu Manchu 'stache. That job was hot, dirty, and saw dust found its way into all aspects of my person. When the blowers went down (happened at least once per week), it was like a blizzard in there. I started in mid-May, so glad to be doing something that didn't require organic chem, physics, or calculus! By late August, I was counting the days to go back to school and kick the asses of those courses that so beat me up! And I had enormous respect for one man in particular: my best friend's dad. This man worked that third shift job for decades, to provide for his family. What I felt at times so mind numbing and just plain physically exhausting after only 12 weeks, this man did for 50 weeks a year, year in and year out. Lord only knows how much fine particular sawdust was in his lungs. But he always was smiling, I never heard him complain, and I found I had, during high school, just assumed he had a rosy job. And maybe he did, maybe your work is what you chose to make of it, I don't know. But of all the times I was over there (playing D&D or messing around on a TRS-80), he never was in a foul mood.

Wow, sorry for the discourse there, Paul! All meant to say that my Fu Manchu lasted a year, then I had a job as a stock clerk and company policy forbade a mustache to drop below the corners of your mouth! I had the 'stache until 2004, when on the first date with my wife, she was startled to know I had a mustache. In the online photo (yup, we met on Match dot com, back in 2004!) she that it was a shadow or worse, dirty lip!! Oh what a blow to my self-image of the cool dude!! It came off several weeks later and I admit I never looked back.

If you all want, over in my place I can post a pic of me in '95, sporting the mustache and a mullet!

Well, today I used the Irish Flats soap anyway. It's actually not too bad. I'm going to keep it around. The scent is light enough that it isn't offensive. I also realized I need to break in my SOC some more. It's still eating lather like crazy. This is my least used Boar, though. It'll definitely get better.

Also used the Silver star blade. It was a pretty good first shave. I'm going to leave my opinion open, however, until I get a few more shaves in.

Happy Friday DFS!

The Silvertip brush after its first lather... Like a big ole fluffy mushroom.

Soft as a pillow. Honestly, I could have probably gone with a 2-band from Shaveforge. I had one previously and it was softer than Maggards, Razorock, etc. They do make a good brush.

I won't get to use it until tomorrow at the earliest. Will probably wait until the weekend. Don't Badgers need break-in lathers, or no?[Image: 405dad1f33161b394e455beedf0dd062.jpg]

That is my kind of mushroom! I don't think badgers need a lot of breaking in. My T1 Manchurian was good to go immediately after setting up.

So I used the Silvertip this evening. It was ok, but not great.

It was soft... pillow soft. However, despite loading and loading and loading, I couldn't get enough lather out of it. I got 1 good pass and a thin weak lather for the second. For the final pass, I had to reload again.

This is what I feared and why I asked if Badgers needed a break-in. I know Boars 'eat less lather' after you break them in. If this is the best it'll get, I don't know how this is going to work. My gut reaction is badgers are crap. I can build 6 passes worth in no time with a synth. I can't muster 2 good passes from a badger.

Just not worth using. Sheesh.
