I am going to make some traditional Bay Rum fragrance. The name of the scent tells us the primary ingredients which are a particular type of bay leaves (Pimenta Racemosa) and rum.

I quit drinking some years ago. If you are a drinker and have more than one type of rum in your cabinet it would be great great if you can take a whiff of each of them and share which ones you like as well as the ones you don't like.

Hey Pete123 this sounds like a great project. I've wanted o try my hand at making some bay rum for a while now but haven't ben able to find a source for the pimento racemes leaves. Now I happen to have about a dozen different rums in my basement rum cabinet (what? everybody has one of those don't they?) I'll try to give you a list over the weekend - I might have to taste them too. Big Grin

I can not match Marko's generosity.
I am not a drinker.
I only have 1 bottle in my liquor cabinet.
Perhaps you could concoct a prize winner with a probably unopened bottle of six year old
Manischewitz, Kosher for Passover, very very very ultra sweet Seder wine.
The whole bottle is yours if you want it.
It looks nice.

Mickey, you brought back memories of childhood Seders and that ultra sweet Manischewitz, Kosher for Passover, wine.  Your description of it as “very very very ultra sweet” is probably three or four verys too few. I recommend this piece, its excellent as are all the other pieces done by churchilllafemme in that thread. Mandatory reading if you want to better understand fragrance.

OK, I went through the gruelling task of digging out rum and sniffing it - I ended up with over a dozen bottles if you include the duplicates which I didn't put into the picture.  The three bottles in the back row on the left are actually bourbons but they wanted to get on the picture because as we all know, bourbon always seems to want to get in on the action.Smile  

After sniffing them all, including the bourbons, in my opinion The Lash spiced rum was the best smelling.  Lots of vanilla.  Here are a couple of reviews:

Personally I enjoy The Lash neat with a tiny bit of ice.  I hope that helps.
