Way back in the days of pirates, what was their preference?
That would without doubt be authentic.

Yo ho ho!
Fifteen men on a deadman's chest.
Drink and the devil
Had done with the rest.

What a great theme song for your new fragrance.

Marko, many, many thanks! Hope the following taste test was good as well.

It’s funny, I don’t really like Bay Rum scents, but i do love rum! Not sure if you are looking to use actual rum or what your budget is? I think rum can still be a bargain compared to high end whiskey etc but the better ones can still be a pricey.
Here are some bottles that are in my current rotation.

Thanks Mickey Oberman for bringing back memories of my youth. That pirate's song from Treasure Island was one of my boyhood favourites Big Grin

okay, the pirates song above is now the official song for my budding Bay Rum Splash / cologne project. I'll have to figure out a royalty payment for Mickey Oberman!

Marko mentioned not really liking Bay Rum. I would have to agree with that. Most of the ones I've tried have had too much clove scent, which I don't like. I do like Old Spice which I think of as a Bay Rum. Lucky Tiger Bay Rum is nice, though whatever chemical is used to de-nature the alcohol tastes terrible. Of course, I don't drink it, though that taste somehow gets in my mouth.

My most vivid memory is of that gruff laugh - "ar, ar, ar!"
