I've been shaving with the Weck Surgical Prep (non Shavette) razor (takes long hair shaper single edge blades) and it's design could be the ideal template for a modern GEM razor. No moving parts but an effective delivery system for a razor blade.

It took me about 3 months of actively searching to find one. I love these old surgical prep razors - still trying to find an Olaf Rasmussen Surgical Prep.

Based on recommendations in posts I found in my research, I went with the Personnna Hair Shaper Blades (marked as 25% sharper) and they work really well in the Weck - very smooth and efficient (not to mention I can easily get two weeks worth of quality shaves out of them).  There are also Personna Surgical Prep Single Edge blades that have about the same dimensions as the Hair Shaper Blades, but seem to be a bit thicker.  I think these Surgical Prep blades might have a tighter fit, which isn't a bad thing, but I have yet to try them (can't find them in 5 or 10 blade packs).  The Hair Shaper Blades do have some slight side to side give in the Weck, but stay put during shaving and do not impact shaving performance for me.

Colonial Razors and Rocnel replied (when asked, don't remember on what threads) that a GEM blade razor is definitely planned.
