Probably not. I think it is that as I have gradually downsized in my dwelling, from a large house to a small house to an apartment, I ran out of free surfaces for my collections, so I had to give up collecting and just switch to using.

Nah, don't be modest. Most folks would have done like I did and start nailing shelves to every available surface. You, sir, don't need a Sabatical because you have restraint (that I lack).

This reminds me, is there a way to 'mount' a shelf on a dog or cat? I think I have some underutilized storage space.

I imagine shaving supply manufacturers and vendors get a slight chill when they see threads like this.

Or maybe they release limited edition stuff that will be unavailable by the end of January. And aren’t there usually sales after christmas? How strong is your resolve?

I doubt they worry. It's relatively few who partake and you have as many failures as successes.

Regarding sales, some probably do, though I don't recall much post-Xmas deals the last few years. If they do, it'll definitely make the sabatical harder.

Still, we shall see how well my resolve holds (hint, I suck at this. Lol.)

I'm not Great at these but at least try. If people don't want to they obviously don't have to. Always find it humourous how many that have no desire to be involved in it feel the need to come to the thread to tell you how free they feel by not doing it like attempting is unhealthy or something. I could not buy another brush, razor, soap, splash or blade and go multiple years before running out. I could go months using a different razor each day without duplicating. I'm pretty sure I have some freedom latitude........... thanks for the support

I find that I usually don't have to do a 'no buy' (fill in the time restraint) because I go in spurts. I may not buy anything for months and then buy a few things in a given month. It tends to average out. Also, as seen by my recent December 2021 Acquisitions post, I have been blessed with generous friends.

All the best to those of you who are giving this a try. I hope it works out for you. Happy2

January is coming. So I did what anyone would in my situation... Immediately shopped for anything I don't need before my sabatical begins.

I have some Stirling products enroute, including a bar of their smoked grapefruit hand soap. If I like the scent there, I may grab it in a shave soap. It's a good testing ground for me.

Also ordered a charging dish, of sorts. When I have a sample soap, or a cream, I can palm lather or lather in a soap tub cap. However, I ran into a copper dish that is smaller (palm-able) than the Turkish one out there. Figured it would work well for loading (charging) a brush for face lathering.

As I said, wholely unnecessary, so I bought them. Lol.

Anyone else actively at work buying up their fair share before we cut the cord? T-minus 4 days!

Someone posted a Semogue Mistura in a dark wood handle in another neighborhood. I am trying not to go looking! My only planned purchase was a beginner's strop from Razor Emporium. Due to arrive after Jan 1, I think. As long as it doesn't detour up north, like several items have recently! Matt at RE thought I might want a canvas strop as well, so I can add paste if I wanted to, but this is all so new I am refraining from that as well. I don't know what I'm doing, I don't know if I'll like it or end up like van Goh, so I am not spending on extras! If one was to get a canvas strop, separately, I don't understand the point. The beginner horse leather strop and the canvas are actually more than one of the less expensive all-in-one strops!

I am also trying not to look at the BSTs as I don't want anything at the moment. What I like about ours here at DFS is that you can sort it to show just WTB, and maybe I have something someone else would like!
