Temptation awaits.  So does freedom, although with temptation and the sort of freedom I have in mind, one will have to choose one or the other for January.  (My own outcome is by no means certain.)

Excellent idea. My first year was spent in promiscuous acquisition. The next should be a year of thoughtful focus on what I have. I owe a debt of gratitude to DFS for making some great hardware and software available for a great price.

You know, you could also make this a swap page where you guys could satisfy your fetishes for trying something different and agree between parties that your only expenditure is postage. A little different from the BST so that there's no confusion.

I like this idea! Swap, share, lend, gift, etc. We don't have rules, just restraining from buying more stuff. I won't ask anyone for anything, but I am more than willing to share, swap, trade, or lend.

While I understand the sentiment, I think, I just get too much enjoyment out of trying different items, especially software. For me the shaving experience has always been about the journey, not the destination; I have never tried to find the 'perfect shave setup.' For every item I buy, I usually end up selling something. And unfortunately a lot of the things I want to try just aren't available via trades. So I'll refrain from refraining.
