2021/22 Rocnel Sailor Adjustable

Used my 2021 Sailor on 7 yesterday with a vintage brown package PolSilver. Just an amazing 2.5 pass shave. That beast is still smooth on high gaps which still amazes me! I will say that even though the Sailors are the best razors ever made, I still have a ton of love for my Tatara Muramasa. I know that it doesn’t offer high gap shaves but I love the shaves I get on settings 4 and 5. Comparing it to the 2021, setting 3.5 would be 4 on the Muramasa and setting 4 would be 5 on the Muramasa. I agree about the titanium Blackbird being very similar to my WR2 1.45. I had mine polished which took it to the stratosphere in use! Anyway, my 2019, 2020 and 2021 Sailors are the best made razors in my collection and get more use than any others. Comparing it to the 2021, setting 3.5 would be 4 on the Muramasa and setting 4 would be 5 on the Muramasa. 

I tried side by side. I think Rocnel #4 or #5 has similar feeling with Ti BB.

Rocnel 4 = Muramasa 5
Also Rocnel 4  = BB Ti (more or less)

Hence Muramasa 5 = BB Ti (more or less)

I am getting more efficiency from BB Ti than Marumasa 5. But it is really up to shaver's technique. Everybody feels different.

Wow, the BB Ti has been probably the smoothest high efficiency razor I've used so far. If the Sailor equal or exceeds it, I'll have a new #1.

I agree with you. The Blackbird Ti does have a little drag. I sent mine to get polished.

I like BB Ti slightly more. it is lighter and easier to use for me.

Have to say, the BB in machined finish SS feels very similar to the WR1 0.94 (also in the basic brushed finish).
I see the drag as a feature, not a bug.

Used my 21 Sailor tonight on 3 days growth lev 4 WTG, lev 3 XTG and ATG. ETHOS Melang De Argumes soap and AS along with an Astra Blade and got a very smooth BBS shave.

I believe this would be correct. 

Ive not used a BB titanium but have read it is comparable to a 145. The Sailor has you covered.

Our of curiosity, would this suggest that when I use my BB Ti with one shim that it would be comparable to a WR2 155? 
I'll never be able to afford either a Wolfman, nowadays, though I have owned a few when they first appeared, or, especially, a Rochnel Sailor, but I am curious.

I ran the Sailor 2021 on 8 with the new Feather blade on a weeks growth and had a nice two pass BBS shave. The 2021 seemed noticeably smoother than my 2019 Sailor so I waited a week and decided to compare.

Loaded a new Wizamet and cranked the 2019 to a similar gap and quickly remembered how well the 2019 shaves. The blade feel is definitely much more aggressive and nowhere near as smooth as the 2021 but the 2019 shaves under my nose much better than the 2021.

Unpopular opinion, I prefer the additional blade feel/aggressiveness and the greater under the nose maneuverability of the 2019 but the 2021 is still no doubt a masterpiece and is capable of being that RAD killer for those who believe in such things, haha.

No regrets about purchasing the 2021 and I can’t wait to try whatever version comes next in titanium!
