I think the blowing is overkill tho. Clean it, wipe it dry, stand on its head is really all that needs to be done.

Most Gillette's ive seen that are locked up are from Ronco shavers that allow soap scum to build under the plate which eventually locks up the adjustment mechanism. My Chrome Toggle was like that.  After soaking, some pipe cleaners, and a computer duster, the mechanism worked. I was kinda shocked. All that neglect and the internals were still good enough to work.

Yeah I blow mine off with my mouth too.
I don't know much about the computer keyboard spray air, but seemed like when I've used them on keyboard s it was almost like a moist air that had to dry for a couple of seconds. Maybe somebody that knows why that is conclude me in, might be exactly what to use.
I see, the duster does come out very cold and forms some condensation.

On the 21 you can blow down the barrel with your mouth and water will come out the joint at the adjustment dial. That seems good enough for me. Interesting, the 20 model doesn't work the same. It's joint is tight.

Yup, I always blow my Sailor after I am done. Ok, that sounds wrong but y'all know what I mean lol.

Good call on the maintenance, guys.

1st, I had never heard a razor being described as “Toothy”. 2nd, the reviewer made it sound as being as aggressive as a R41. Maybe he made the “toothy” remark as to convey that it’s very prone to biting. Is there any truth to this???

I thought its as smooth as a Wolfman Wr2 with high gap POWER!

As always YMMV but he made it seem like an uncomfortable shave. He is honest at least I’ll give him that but the term “toothy” can confuse his audience. It’s the same for aggressive vs blade feel. I like the term blade feel better because aggresion can differ from person to person.
Toothy. Really bad choice of words. I still scratch my head trying to figure it out. That was actually my prototype Sailor. John sent me his Muramasa.

John is apparently a low blade feel guy. So I understand why he may prefer the M. The M is a good razor, it isn't in the same league as a 2021 Sailor tho, for me. I don’t mind blade feel as long as it is smooth and not harsh like a 2011 R41 or an iKon Tek, for the most part.

John is the only guy I've run across that was less impressed with the razor than me. The 2021 Sailor is at the top of my list and I know lots of guys that feel the same...and they have extensive collections. My guess, like Mr. Tester mentioned, is that John isn't experienced with heavy razors and just doesn't understand the slight adjustments needed to wield one. Especially a heavy razor that can be opened up like the 21 Sailor.

I was probably the first to make the WR2 comparison because I had my prototypes of the 20 and 21s for several weeks before I could make that public knowledge. I also have what some may consider a pretty damned good WR2 collection, in SS and Ti.

I still stand by the assertion that the 21 Sailor can do everything a .95 to 1.65 WR2 can do, and more. It will do it just as well, if not better. I think other reviews here on DFS substantiate the claim.

If you can get past the weight and size of the head, it will likely be the best razor in your den. If you want ghost blade feel and shave everyday, the Muramasa is likely a better choice although it has it's own quirks that would make it a no go for me. Top setting of 5 on a Muramasa is like a 3.5 on the Sailor and the Sailor is just getting warmed up at 3.5.
Thank you for taking time and explaining it. I’m happy to hear the confidence in the Sailor 21. Now I have no doubt it will be a contender for the best razor in my den. Also thank you for letting us know the Muramasa comparison, I now have no interest in it as it wouldn’t have the capabilities of the Rocnel. This is exactly what I wanted to hear “I still stand by the assertion that the 21 Sailor can do everything a .95 to 1.65 WR2 can do, and more. It will do it just as well, if not better.”— Now I am counting down the days as my RS21 has shipped! Can’t wait!!

Happy 4th of July!

My delivery estimate as of now is Thursday, I'll probably shave tomorrow and leave three days growth for a first try. I've been using my Titanium Blackbird exclusively for a few weeks now, so it's got quite the benchmark set for it.

Ive not used a BB titanium but have read it is comparable to a 145. The Sailor has you covered.

Used my 2021 Sailor on 7 yesterday with a vintage brown package PolSilver. Just an amazing 2.5 pass shave. That beast is still smooth on high gaps which still amazes me! I will say that even though the Sailors are the best razors ever made, I still have a ton of love for my Tatara Muramasa. I know that it doesn’t offer high gap shaves but I love the shaves I get on settings 4 and 5. Comparing it to the 2021, setting 3.5 would be 4 on the Muramasa and setting 4 would be 5 on the Muramasa. I agree about the titanium Blackbird being very similar to my WR2 1.45. I had mine polished which took it to the stratosphere in use! Anyway, my 2019, 2020 and 2021 Sailors are the best made razors in my collection and get more use than any others. Here’s the link to my shave yesterday.

Our of curiosity, would this suggest that when I use my BB Ti with one shim that it would be comparable to a WR2 155?
I'll never be able to afford either a Wolfman, nowadays, though I have owned a few when they first appeared, or, especially, a Rochnel Sailor, but I am curious. Shy

That's a great looking brush, is it from Marley Machine Works?

I tried side by side. I think Rocnel #4 or #5 has similar feeling with Ti BB.

Rocnel 4 = Muramasa 5
Also Rocnel 4  = BB Ti (more or less)

Hence Muramasa 5 = BB Ti (more or less)

Wow!
