Sapphire is a naturally occurring earth mineral. Existing in the ground already, used sapphire blades in a landfill will hardly pollute the earth. And a blade that lasts a year or more, is certainly a hell of a lot less waste than steel blades.
I just pledged for this razor. And since they have met their funding goal, I should receive it about this time next year.
This razor is currently priced at $200, with replacement sapphire cartridges at about $40. If one cartridge lasts a year or more, this will definitely be a game changer for the entire industry, making it the cheapest shaver out there, over the lifetime of the razor!
The real question in my mind is what the quality of the shave will be. Sapphire has the potential to be sharper than steel, and it will definitely be longer lasting.
I look forward to see if the Zafirro can beat my OneBlade in terms of closeness and comfort. In either case, both razors are the most beautiful and high-tech razors I have ever seen! Can't wait!
