Thanks Len! I actually used a 10% coupon code at bullgoose and grabbed 240 for $115! Yea, yea, more expensive than 100 feather DEs but as I said before, not getting into that discussion. As my compensator mind works, I have no brush over $19 bucks and I only have 6 (3 were under $11).

This is not a push for bullgoose, just saying what I got.

Finally getting around to sharing my thoughts on the OneBlade after it's first use on Thursday night.
Echoing the thoughts of everyone else I felt the overall fit , finish and presentation of the razor and its storage case etc were top class.
It certainly hits the mark when considering the look and feel of the materials used to give the user the feel that they are handling a reassuringly expensive piece of hardware, so 10/10 for that.

I put a Feather in it for it's first use since it is what the manufacturer decided was the "best" blade for it. I found it very smooth and a very close shave and even though my wife informed me just prior to shaving that we were going out for dinner in 10 minutes as I lathered up there were no rushed nicks or cuts. Who doesn't love to eat out though , so it was a nice problem to have!

Much like when I first used a Mongoose and a Stealth Slant there is a unique feel to the shave with it for me. Granted for anyone who read my mini SOTD review you will have noted I actually used all new products for the shave so this can cloud an accurate review of any one product in the shave but I think the razor and blade used are pretty easy to assess even in light of this.
Like the Mongoose , ATT S1 and the Merkur Futur to a lesser extent for me ; 2 passes was plenty to get BBS with it. I did get the feeling I was being pretty reckless even after a few strokes but for me it cut close but with the feel of a mild razor and the result in the end bore this out.
I have only used it the once and I'm just about to use it for a 2nd time but so far the only drawbacks for me are that I found because of the pivoting head it was a bit clumsy at getting a straight line at the sideburns and going against the grain on the top lip would be the only occasion I could cut myself. I felt to get in close ATG on the top lip right under the nose the head would dig into the skin a touch to readily. However I'm sure I'll get used to it sufficiently in the short time I have the use of it to increase my skill level in these area's.

One other thing to note as have others who have used these Feather blades is that during my 2nd and last pass I felt the blade start to lose it's sharpness but I couldn't be sure. I'll start this next shave with the same blade and if this is the case I'll try one of the GEM blades in it. Either way I'm looking forward to the next week or so with the OneBlade.

Nice review. The feather blade should give you two shaves at least, especially with a two pass shave. I have an extremely coarse and dense beard. I go three passes with cleanup each shave and I can get two comfortable uses out of each feather blade.

What I have noticed is that if you don't have a good lather, the blades dull a lot quicker.

That's the 2nd shave in with the OneBlade and the last shave with the feather single edge. Yes I could probably push it to a 3rd shave but why risk a bad shave when I have blade options but limited time. Same results as my first shave but with a little weeper and a tiny bit of redness on my neck so I'll get the GEM blade in and see how that goes.

Wanted to dislike this razor. Gimmick? Flexible head, next, someone else will make one that loads two blades. Here we go again. Then a friend loaned me his OneBlade. Holy Sh*t, this really is different. Normally with other razors, minimum 3 passes, usually more. Two and done. Definition of smooth and efficient. After every shave I use an Alum block as quality control for my technique. Perfection. Purchased a OneBlade. Now my concern; springs that are in the head? What's the life of these springs? Surely there is a spring we could buy? Avoid the floppy-head. I'm also waiting for guys to customize their razors with different spring rates, no?

Another satisfied OneBlade user! It sounds as if you went through what a member on another forum described as the 5 stages of OneBlade acquisition: Anger, Denial, Curiosity, Acceptance, Joy.   Tongue It really is a special razor in it's own class, and I wish you a lifetime of perfect shaves with it!

As for the spring, who knows... there are springs on the caps of 100+ year old razors that work flawlessly today. The OneBlade spring should be made out of better alloys then razor makers had available then (stainless steel?), and it is Teflon coated to boot. I don't think it would wear out in a lifetime of usage. But if it did, the warranty would cover you as long as they are still being made. As for custom springs the user could install? That is a possibility I never considered, but I'm sure someone would try it if the razor ever became popular enough. Personally I find the tension on the default spring just right, but I'm sure engineering minded folks could install a spring as loose as a cart, to one tight enough to block the pivot motion entirely, and anywhere in between. I'm too personally afraid to take the razor apart to experiment, but I'd love to see detailed mod instructions from someone brave enough to attempt it! Any takers?

Thanks I'll remember that. I was half thinkng to take the blade out of my 1912 which has a few shaves on it already but the passaround came with plenty of modded GEM blades anyway.

Given how carefully everything else about the razor was designed (exact blade exposure, angle, etc.), I have to believe the spring was also given plenty of consideration. I doubt the tension they went with in the pivot is an accident. While that shouldn't stop anyone from experimenting, necessarily, in my case I'm going to respect the process and precision of the designers here, especially since the end result is so good.

They are very sharp at the onset but perhaps that's why longevity suffers as the blade edge is so thin.
