Speaking of "the pivot mechanism", is it going to be imperative to keep the razor clean to a higher than normal degree to keep the mechanism operating properly? Will periodic lubrication be required? How is that thing constructed?

It sounds as though unless excessive force is used the mechanism doesn't come into play, making it a 'passive until needed feature'. Is that a fair description?

Mostly the pivot does not come into play at all. It seems to only function going around corners to keep the correct angle, or if a lot of pressure is used. It is not a loose or floppy pivot like what you would find in a cart. Much tighter, coming into use only when absolutely needed. Some users don't notice it at all.

The spring of the pivot is self contained (as well as being Teflon coated), sealed within the base of the razor head. It is not exposed in any way, and therefore will not be damaged by external influences. No extra cleaning or lubing required.

Thanks, Len. Good, on point answers to my questions. Continued success with it.

I was on the fence all weekend about ordering one but I woke up this morning and decided it was worth a try. Hopefully it will live up to their claims although I know most everyone seems really pleased with the razor.
I'll try the Feathers first since a few come with it. If I want to try the Gem blades, is there anyplace that sells a smaller quantity than Ted Pella? Thanks for everyone's comments on this razor.

AFG008 I just picked up some GEM PTFE blades from Bullgoose, along with several extra packs of the Feather SEs that the OneBlade uses. Connaught also carries both, depending on which you might prefer.

I would also recommend Jason at TryABlade . You can order a cross section of SE blades to try.

I like to mix things up while I travel, so I started to bring my OneBlade. The OneBlade travel pouch is very sturdy and protective. What I like the most is that one can use this razor everyday without worrying about looking like a tomato face. Mild enough but very efficient.

I'm curious: how does the OneBlade go over with the TSA as a carry-on? I know they're fine with cartridge razors, but get weird about DE blades. (I've heard some guys take injectors in their carry-on without incident, at least most of the time.)

It is the blades that they do not allow. I would check in the blades, but carry-on the razor,  especially if that razor is a rare or expensive one… Wink

Just be prepared to take it out for them at security, as they will want to look, and you can show them that there is no blade inserted.
