I am almost certain about buying it, even my wife is saying buy it now.

But I made this promise that I won't add anything to my den without selling some. So my desperate attempt is on it's way to sell a few gears.

Historically, they've put them on sale for Father's Day as well....I'm guessing you'll get a chance then as well.

Is there any way to tell whether a OneBlade razor is V2 or V1?

Just reach out to them via phone or online chat. Both pm and owner use v1 is what i was told. Speaks volumes as to improvement that they haven’t bothered to upgrade

About $100 or so. Either way you got ripped off. Tongue

All kidding aside I know the V1 takes an altered GEM blade while the V2 doesn't, or so I have read.

The V2 will take modified Gem Blades. In addition to removing the spine, you have to enlarge the cutouts on the side for the blade to lock in. I do this with a hand 5/32 punch.

Gem blade with spine removed. It will work in a V2 Genesis but not lock into place.

Gem blade with cut outs enlarged so that the blade locks into place

There is a big thread on B&B on how to modify the blades.

@"iamsms", did you find out if the one you received was a V2? For the price it should be a V2. I have a V1 and love it. Having said that, folks with both versions say the V2 shaves a little better. Also, they say that they modified the steel used to make the OneBlade to be less brittle. If you drop a V1, it may well break and isn't covered.

In my view, the $299 is a deal for the V2, though not the V1.
