I haven't heard a single thing yet...no replies to my emails, nothing from my message on facebook, nor a reply to my tweet on twitter. how sad..

I can't believe they're continuing to sell defective razors...when they acknowledged they're defective!!!!!!!!!

RSP1, I'd send that fellow on TSN a PM letting him know that they admitted to you that a smiling blade is a result of a defective razor and that he should probably look into getting his replaced.

Definitely a good idea to let the fellow on TSN know about his options, although it did seem that he rather enjoys his shaves with the OneBlade, even with the blade smile.

andrewjs18 and RSP1, just out of curiosity — did you ever try fitting a Gem blade into your razors, and if you did, was the smile about the same or more pronounced than with the Feather blade?

I have not tried a GEM yet, no. Maybe I'll do that tonight if I remember.

That would be great, if you get a chance. Mainly I’m wondering if the smile is the same or even worse. (I would imagine that if the Gem smiles even when the Feather sits straight, then it might smile even more when the Feather is already slightly crooked.)

I finally got a response. I'll share the email later.

In short, they confirmed there's a manufacturing issue with their newest batch that'll be fixed with an upcoming shipment they're receiving in 20-30 days.

the email I got:

Quote:Dear andrewjs18,

I apologize that you are having any trouble whatsoever with your new OneBlade Razor. We can either have you return the razor for a full refund, or, you can hold onto it and wait to exchange it until we have new inventory in stock that will not have any quality issues/'smiling blade'. Just let me know how you would like to proceed. It will be 20 - 30 days before we receive our next shipment.

In short, our last production run was manufactured using a brand new grade of Stainless material that has dramatically improved strength and hardness specifications. Unfortunately there was a slight difference in the shrink parameters relative to the material specs provided by the material manufacturer. This means that some of the critical dimensions inside the razor head are slightly smaller than they should be. As a result, there are a high percentage of our razors in the last batch where the blade is not seating correctly = smiling blade.

Again, I apologize for the hassle of receiving a defective product. Please let me know how you would like to proceed regarding your razor.

Sincerely,

Tod Barrett

Their responses today has changed where I'm coming from. I'm not saying that folks should rush and purchase, though they are doing what is needed.

Well, at least this confirms my sub-par shaves with the one I purchased a month or so ago, as opposed to the previous one I had tried earlier this year.
Nonetheless, I won't be getting another one to try as it is too much of an inconvenience to get it to Canada with the shipping and importing fees.
Good luck, gentlemen.
