Your most moisturizing alcohol splashes

I want to mention one more thing in regard to last post. I have not tried a lot of alcohol aftershaves because my skin is dry so I have always preferred balms. B&M's aftershave tonic works very well though, and I can get away without applying a balm for the first couple hours post shave but then usually apply one later. Stirling aftershave doesn't dry me out and leaves my skin soft, but not as moist as B&M tonic. Barrister's Reserve has a different feel to it when applying it compared to any others I have used and, after a few minutes left my skin feeling very soft and fairly moist but, not quite as moist as a balm. All three of those feel great and I will continue enjoying them for years to come I imagine. One other splash I have is Fine American Blend which, I don't use much anymore because it dries my skin out too much.

Chatillon Lux is at the top of my list of aftershaves to try. I have heard all good things about it and look forward to trying it.

I had a similarly positive experience with the Reserve. Most notably, i didn't have any dry or flaky skin later in the day, which I sometimes have with alcohol splashes if I don't use a soap that is on the more moisturizing side. The changes I suggested are slight, but a slightly more moisturizing splash would likely ensure an even more healthy appearance.

I would welcome the change but I'd also buy it as is. I wonder if it's even possible to make it more moisturizing while also containing alcohol.

Hobbyist I'm not sure about that - perhaps Barrister_N_Mann can comment? Somehow Derby City manages it (at least with my skin type), but I suspect it is due to what seems to be a high content of aloe. The B&M is just about there in terms of its moisturizing properties. In any case, it's fantastic how it is and I'd also buy it anyway (I love the scent!), but a slight tweak would be a welcome change for me since that little bit of extra moisture will ensure a perfect complexion. While I can use alcohol splashes with my sensitive skin issues, I can't use them all the time because they are not moisturizing enough. I try to stick to the more moisturizing products so I can use them more often.

I too suffer from dry skin, but I also love alcohol-based splashes. I can usually get away with it when the weather is warm, however in the winter I usually have to use a balm too. One I picked up recently is the Through the Fire Fine Craft "For Flint" aftershave. Its got witch hazel, aloe and glycerin among other great ingredients. Really nice scent and awesome post shave feel. I'm starting to really explore this category of aftershaves. I prefer splashes to balms and to get the benefits of both is definitely a win-win.

Update after 3.5 hours wearing the Barrister's Reserve. My face feels very moisturized, soft, and smooth. It feels as if I were wearing a balm. This is nothing like the other aftershave splashes I have used. It goes on very thick and absorbs nicely. One thing I want to test is how well it works after shaving with a soap that dries me out like MdC. Tonight I shaved with B&M which, doesn't even require a balm or splash.

It occurs to me that I might be over or under applying - the bag-type sample container is making it difficult for me to control how much I use. One day I got a result much like yours, but a couple of others were just shy of perfect. I plan on opening my second sample tomorrow, and may end up putting it into a fragrance sample sprayer.

I just opened the bag and poured some in my hand. I probably over poured it slightly but it went on nicely. With the tonic from B&M I shake it 3 times into my hand, and the Reserve I probably used the equivalent of 4 shakes. Try using your spray bottle, I'm sure that will work fine.

In my experience it would have to be the new alcohol based aftershaves recently released by Chatillon Lux.  They're flat out awesome.  I've only been able to get some of the sample sized aftershaves (international shipping restrictions) but they are generously sized samples good for probably 5 or 6 shaves, maybe more.

I echo Marko 's recommendation. I have neutral skin, don't require a lot of moisturizing personally but the Chatillon Lux AS splashes have a tremendous amount of emollients in the formula.

In fact, I typically prefer less moisturizing and supplement with a balm or witch hazel when and if I ever need it. Being the case Shawn just spun up some customs for me that remove the glycerin and reduce the witch hazel. hawns does a fantastic job in the creation of his scents as well.
