The Razorine Flatboy handles work with the Yates 921 head without needing spacers.

I picked up a used Razorine handle this week after I found this thread started by slantman which detailed the specifications for the two handle types. When I saw the draebeard post saying that these handles worked with the Blackbird, then I knew that they would work with the Yates 921 since other posts said that the Blackbird handle would fit the Yates 921.

I just received my BYOR custom titanium razor. FWIW I ordered a dual comb in the EH gap (both sides are the same) with the bead blasted finish and some personal engravings. I prefer the matted bead blasted over the other options.

I have the original Mild gap brass hybrid dual comb and always enjoyed it even with the small gap. The comb’s teeth were not “sharp to me against the skin” but easily glided whereas the geometry of the solid bar provided a much more efficient shave than you’d expected based on the gap measurement. So in titanium at a higher EH gap I had high expectations.

The prior stainless EH works for me in that it is exceptionally smooth yet very efficient meaning it cuts all my whiskers close with very little feel and no harshness like other brands at a similar gap/configuration. This titanium EH plate did not disappoint as it may be even smoother due to the feeling of titanium on my face. In titanium it “punches” above its own numbers making it an even more comfortable shaving experience. IMHO it is comparable to those high gapped polished razors (think Ohio, Turkey, Russia, Canada).

Also, for me, this all titanium razor is lighter and it’s balance leads to a nimble and more manageable shave unlike the heavier (copper, brass, stainless etc) metals and preferred over lightweight plastics or aluminum.

This custom titanium Yates will definitely be high on my regular rotation. Thank you Jake.

Almost forgot. This custom BYOR came with a tuck of Gillette Nacet blades and the tin box with precut form fitted razor inserts makes for a great presentation and storage/travel case.

I've had my eye on the polished 921 @ TRC. Would this be a good razor for someone with sensitive skin? What blade would pair well with it for this?

The M plate if you don’t like blade feel, shave every other day or so, and don’t mind a DFS+ and not a BBS.

I find Nacet, Personna Platinums, Gillette Platinums work best.  Jake ships the razor with Nacets, used to be Personna Israeli Reds.

The H plate might be a little much for sensitive skin.

Sounds great, thank you! I'm sure I'll end up buying it before not too long here.. Rolleyes

I picked up a Yates 3.25" handle second hand not too long ago and I am really enjoying that handle with my Yates 921.
I have a small collection of handles that I have been using with my Yates (including the original 4" handle), but the 3.25" handle has my attention at the moment. The bead blasted finish is grippy enough not to slip out of my hands when my hands are wet and have a little shave soap on them. I hope they make the 3.5" handles available again (regular versions, not BYOR) so others can enjoy them.

My previous favorite handle for the Yates 921 was the Razorock Haloed UFO handle.

I received an email today from Yates Precision Manufacturing and they are now selling 3.25 inch stubby titanium handles in stonewashed, bead blast and as machined finishes.

I ordered the bead blast titanium version as I really enjoy my Yates 921.

I am thinking the lighter handle might do well for the H and EH plates (depending on blade choice).

I've revisited  the Yates .
Bought a razor with H plate and just got the EH also.
The H is scalloped and EH safety bar.
I'm really getting some good shaves with the Yates, long lasting shaves.
I'm a bit surprised because I was on the pass around and wasn't empressed, but also, wasn't shaving every single day, like now.

I'm assuming the scalloped EH plate would be a tad bit more efficient with a tad bit less comfort that the EH SB.
