Wow! A spectacular shave every time! Yates 921-H always seems to impress me. Yates H glides across the face smoothly and it is deceptively efficient due to its geometry (low blade feel).
Found the perfect balance handle for the head, at least for my shaving style and grip. Bring on the EH plate!!

Hey All!

It's been a minute, but I've been reading through the last few pages of posts and really appreciate all the positive feedback and kind words. I saw a couple posts asking about the difference between bead blast and stonewash finishes, so I wanted to explain.

For a stonewash finish, the components get sand blasted with aluminum oxide media, which makes them very rough and gives them the dark grey appearance. They are then put into a vibratory tumbler (similar to the rock polishers you used to play with when you were a kid) with small ceramic media and they are tumbled for a few hours. This smooths out the finish and gives them the stonewash look.

For bead blast, rather than aluminum oxide media, you blast the components with very small beads of glass. This leaves a brighter, satin finish. There is no tumbling with the bead blast finish.

Then, after the components receive their respective finishes, they are all cleaned and passivated in heated citric acid to eliminate any free iron particles that could have been imparted by either the machining or finishing processes. This ensure that they will not oxidize.

As far as getting things back in stock, I'm hoping to have razors and H Plates listed in both finishes by the end of the weekend. The day job has had me travelling the last couple weeks, so I've been slowed down a bit.

Razor stands should hit the machine within a week, and we'll be offering those in both stonewash and bead blast finishes.

I'm still making progress on Titanium razors. I'm hoping to announce more information on that within 2 weeks.

I'm also making progress on EH plates, which I hope to have available within a month.

Lastly, I've been going back and forth on it, but I think Polished razors and components are going to become a once-a-year limited offering. Polished is my least favorite finish and not something I get excited about, and since I do electropolish I have to use an outside vendor, which is a headache. There are a lot of razor companies that do polished finishes and do them well, but it just isn't our thing. I'm also stretched pretty thin as it is, and I want to focus on keeping our razors in stock as well as continue developing the Titanium razor and new products. With that being said, I know a lot of folks like that finish, which is why we'll offer it annually.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

This thread made me pull the H plate razor out of the drawer for use today. The H plate and a Personna Israeli Red blade was just AMAZING!
