Oh and Frank you can use any CG handle to lighten that handle heavy shave to improve the experience which is worth it even you don't like to mix & match parts - your face will thank you. Jake has a real winner in this Yates line (made in USA) for sure especially at his reasonable and realistic pricing.

AJ thanks for reminding me of that Shave Off thread! Lol

You know I dislike putting other handles on a razor unless I only have a head.

What’s with the “ Soap Obsessed “ haha! Maybe a little.

Overall you and Mark and Dave in KY were right this is a very good shaving razor and especially for the price of entry.  So I can’t wait to grow the beard out and do a Shave Off with the CG Level 3.

Got mine, shaved with with the M plate twice.  Definitely a different shaving angle for me than what I'm used to, I feel like its a bit steeper without a doubt. I got the closest and most comfortable shave of my life today so that was pretty cool.  Haven't used the Hybrid plate yet, want to use the M plate a few more days first because I am still feeling it out.

I would not say, the Yates M plate is as comfortable to me as my Timeless .68 right now. I will say emphatically, the Yates is more efficient, yet still very comfortable.  In fact, it gives me a closer, smoother shave than my Wolfman .61 WR1, which used to be second place among modern razors.  So currently, as far as modern razors go, the Yates M plate is more comfortable to me than anything except the Timeless yet a good deal more efficient.

I will update after quite a few more shaves.

Glad the recommendation panned out

Finally received my H plate. Had a great shave with the Yates. My only complaint is that the head is too wide. I'll be using it daily for a week and will report back.

So I mentioned in my last review of my first shave with my new Yates razor with the H plate that it seemed somewhere between a level 2 and 3 Charcoal Goods and I’d do a side by side Shave Off to see if my memory was correct.  So I decided to start out using my Level 3 OC which I nicknamed “ The Beast “ years ago when I first got it when CG released it. It’s a razor I’m definitely emotionally connected to since it was the reason I developed my SSSST Technique so I don’t see it ever leaving my den.

I did a two pass shave going both WTG and ATG and decided to not do any buffing at the end of the ATG pass to see how these two matched up on my 3 days growth.

On the WTG pass it was very clear and noticeable to me after finishing the pass, rinsing and doing a face feel that the Beast was more efficient than the Yates. It was also clear to me that the Yates was noticeably smoother than the CG Level 3 OC. One thing they had in common seeing that my Level 3 has the Magnum handle on it is they are both handle heavy which I can get used to so not a deal breaker.

On the ATG pass both razors smoothed out but the Yates was still noticeably smoother than the Beast and again nicely efficient.  After rinsing my face and towel drying I did a face feel and on the CG side I was a completely BBS  Level 1 and the Yates basically also left me with a mostly BBS Level 1 with some areas on my face & neck DFS which is what happened on my last 2 pass shave with it. It’s been almost 12 hours since the shave and my initial impression vas verified as the CG side lasted longer by about 2 hours in the areas that were both BBS. So I guess my memory hasn’t left me! Lol

Also have to say the Yates was a pleasure to shave with and I’d choose it over the Beast as a daily shaver. So a very good shave experience from both razors.

I was in the mood to use my PAA Bay Rum shave soap and Aftershave which is the only bay rum I can use as it has no clove in it. Also used 2 brand new Polsilver blades in these two razors. Also used my Paladin Brush and CC copper shave bowl.

Next up the CG Level 2 OC again to see if my memory is correct

I’ll say it again I’m very impressed with the Yates razor and how smooth it is for the efficiency it level it exhibits. Definitely a keeper.

Great Shaves!

3 shaves in with the H plate, and I can already say that I like it more than a Charcoal Goods Gen 2 Level 2. I find it both smoother and more efficient. This razor hangs with any of the other much more expensive razors, even surpasses a lot of them. I'm fond of the short handle also. Don't mind the weight.

The razor is extremely efficient for how it feels. The value is outstanding to get 316 stainless for its price and quality. I'm shaving with it every day at this point to see if I can take even more pressure off of the razor and find different ways to shave my face as I've experienced some irritation in a few places.
