Had my first shave with the wunderbar dlc today who wants to hear the nitty gritty Smile

Ok so I shaved with it for a while and here are my findings.

I own or had previously own an S1, S2, Stealth Slant, AS-D2, and the Ikon B1 OSS.

Let's say starting off I truly hated the razor and was wondering what I was going to do with it. My skin is very sensitive around my neck and jawline. It seems no matter what I did I either nicked myself or gave myself major razor burn. It is due to this I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to give myself a comfortable shave; which now involves me using a hot towel and emu oil. Those two things combines with the stealth slant gave me the best shave I ever had and no razor yet has come even close. So much so I have given away most of my razor besides the AS-D2 and the SS.

Incoming the Wunderbar DLC I was hoping for an experience similar to the SS but with better clearance under the nose and slicker due to the DLC coating; boy was I wrong. My findings are similar to TSE in which I thing the Wunderbar more aggressive then the S1 and that for me created a incredibly uncomfortable shave. The burning was so bad I could not shave even waiting 2+ days in between shaves; closer to a week before I was ready to shave again.

Luckily I had a Jurgen Hempel coming in and decided to try replacing the Wunderbar handle with that. OMG did that do the trick. For those disliking their Wunderbar due to it being too aggressive I implore you to try it with a lighter weight handle. I got everything I expected with this razor and more. For the first time ever I was able to shave fully to BBS without a nick and I didn't even have to use my hot towel or emu oil. This razor is without a doubt my favorite I had ever used. Slickness was there, it was a very smooth smooth shave, and no more trouble getting underneath my nose.

One day I wish to see how this razor would compare with a Wolfman's DC or a Ikon SBS.

Likewise- have been using the regular SS version recently and it's a treat. How does the DLC compare?

What's the practical benefit of the coating?

Are you asking us to gush over it?

I believe it is designed to further protect the stainless steel from corrosion, and provides additional slickness versus bare or polished stainless steel.

Edited my post to reflect my findings. Sorry it took so long all I was definitely not trying to get you all to gush over it; more so I wanted to give this razor a fair trail.

Huh, I never figured just changing a handle out would make that big of a difference.

I didn't think so either ymmv but it made a big difference in this case. I am unsure if other have experienced this as it seems my skin is more sensitive then most.
