Wolfman WRH2 polished and brushed pics

Hello DanLaw, I've found this thread as It's finally m turn for a WR and I have to choose within brushed and basic polish of WRH2. After all these years of usage, what finish would you recommend? is basic polish very sensitive to scratches? hands on, there's a lot of difference within the 2 finishes? in the photo I can't understand a lot. Thanks

I would only go premium polish; very disappointed with the basic finishes I have encountered.

Premium would be too much for my finances, why are you disappointed with the basic? So between basic polished and brushed you recommend the second?

Just like Dan, I've also experienced the same with the basic polish. When it was only James in the shop who was doing all the work, the basic polish was very consistent and was rather excellent considering the price difference with the premium. Sometimes hardly distinguishable from the premium, of course, until you started to focus and zone in. Ever since James added someone to help him, it's really been a hit-and-miss on the basic finishes. If I'm not mistaken, James focuses on premium editions from his offerings, and they're still top-notch. A basic brushed or matte finish is beneficial in that it mutes the tool marks and produces a more uniform appearance. Personally, I like the old premium brushed or satin better, but I'd still go for any premium version he offers. If you go for basic, it's really crossing fingers as to what you'll receive. With that said, Wolfman razors are still king in my den, regardless of the finish.

In my opinion (and only speak for mine) and since you asked, highly recommend avoiding the basic finishes even if it means losing your spot to order. My experience and opinion of the quality is expressed much more politically and kindly by Max: imagine a drunk churl expressing the same opinion without any filter - that is my perspective. Thus advise strongly to raise the extra funds required to do it properly while awaiting your turn on a second sign up. Properly done, a Wolfman is a multigenerational heirloom; the examples I have encountered in basic finish are not worth acquiring nor retaining - frankly, I would have issues saddling them upon others.
