I have been testing the new WR4 head. Based on the initial pic, I was very skeptical. I thought it would be too big and bulky. It's actually very slim and, despite having a big "face," it weighs very little. My aluminum head weighs 6.8g, so that would be about 21g for the SS version. That's even lighter than the WR1. I think it's about the most intuitive razor I've ever used in terms of getting the angle just right. It's totally mindless in that respect. Just hold it to your face and the optimum angle is right there.

I tested it with Feather Pro Supers and Kai Cap'n Titan Milds. I also did a half face shave with the WR4 vs a SS Vector. The Vector is a little mild for me with the Kai Milds, but is good with the Supers. With the WR4, the Milds were perfect for everyday shaves and the Supers kicked it up a notch for 48 hour + growth. The gap is .88 mm and I think I'd stick with it if I ordered a WR4 in a different material.

My only criticism was that the cap and base of my tester are somewhat tricky to separate, especially when wet. I devised a "work around"...I leave it loosely attached to the handle and separate them with my fingernail. I'm not sure if this is more pronounced because it's aluminum...maybe the cap would fall off easier if it was heavier? I dunno. I relayed this info to James and he's going to check it out.

Overall, I am very impressed by the performance of this head. I've been a bit burned out on buying/trying new gear. I was happy to get the offer to test it, but didn't expect to like it as much as I do. I actually bought a used Timeless aluminum razor for its handle so I can make this an all-aluminum, permanent addition to my razor lineup. I spoke with a couple other testers and it sounds like they really enjoyed it, as well. I look forward to reading more reviews.

So, I will have my second shave with the WR4 prototype this morning using a Feather Super blade that I was able to push down in it last night. My first shave was outstanding but I only use Feather Super and Schick Proline blades in all of my SE razors. When I tried to get a Super on for the first shave, I could not get it on. This time, used a different Super blade and pushed it on. James told me he is modifying the final version posts to accept all blades. The shave I got on the first run last week with a Feather Pro was outstanding in every way! I was not a fan of aluminum but this head is great in that metal. Light, slim and extremely nimble. Used a titanium WRH7 XL handle and It is now neck and neck with my Vector Titanium for King of the SE’s and will probably surpass it with a Feather Super. Here is a pic of my first shave last week.

Second shave today and absolutely love this razor! Can’t wait to get a couple of the production versions in titanium and copper. Love this gap but always want to push the boundaries so would go with a .94 in Copper and a .88 in Titanium. Used it with a Feather Super today and changed the handle to a SS WRH3 and loved the shave and results![Image: 59f218f1e6edc5a438f9dcc4b1198b19.jpg]

Just a heads up...the head some of us have been testing actually has a .77mm gap, not .88mm (as originally stated).

Seemed like a large jump .45 OC to .88 SB on James' IG posts. Thanks for the info.

Yep, and I am still shocked at how good this razor is at .77 gap! Love the look of the OC as well!

This is the 1.50 gap in the WR4. Posted these pics from James yesterday on my IG page. This is the highest gap that he will make in this razor. He is sending me these to try and I can’t wait as I love high gap Wolfman’s! This thing looks like a beast but I’m sure it will still retain the Wolfman smoothness. He said that someone that got one of the prototype razors that went up on the auction block requested one in stainless so he made these in aluminum first to make sure he could get the gap that high with out thinning out the metal too much.
