Early on I played with the 115 and 125 DC heads.  I could not tell any difference in efficiency but found the SB more comfortable.  So I went forward with SB only.  I do know guys that love the OCs in large gaps tho, just not my thing.  I have kept 1.25 to 1.65SBs and quite enjoy them.

On my face, efficiency wise, a CG L3 SB, a WR1 94OC, and a 135SB are all pretty much the same.  I would likely throw the R41Ti in that pile too.  They only thing I have that would match the efficiency of a 155/165 is a Sailor.

The 155Ti is a great ride.  I could daily shave with it, but I'd have to limit to 1 pass.  There is little regrowth at 24hrs.  Despite the gap, it is almost mindless.

LOOT  I'm just curious and you might not have a SS in 1.55 and 1.65 too. I'm just wanting to compare notes.

To me the 1.65 SS just really didn't seem to give much more efficiency if any and wasn't quite as enjoyable or comfortable. I guess I want to know what the differences are to you.

My 155 it titanium and my 165 is SS. I think efficiency from a .95 to a 1.65 is consistent and linear. So, yeah, I can tell a difference in the 155 and 165 and don't think it really loses much smoothness, if any. I love the 165 too. So much so, the next one will be a 1.75 if I can get him to make one.

Both of yours in SS, I take it? Surprised you felt a performance drop between the two, no matter the material. Not saying you are wrong, just surprised.

Yeah mine are both stainless steel that's why I was curious what kind of experience you had.
It could be not so much performance loss as in preference, if that makes sense. But I'm kind of undecided about which one for a TI since I've only had a 1.25 open comb in TI.

Makes total sense, I get it. I just figured I would try to find my ceiling in that head too...or run out of material for a guard.

I really hope to see you get a 1.75 l.

I currently own:
WR1 SB (.80)
WR2 SB (1.25)

For the next Wolf, I'm leaning towards a Stainless WR2 OC with larger gap...

Does anyone have experience with a 1.35, 1.45 or 1.55 OC? I like aggressive razors, but also don't want a rough $400 cheese grater if you know I mean.

Opinions welcome... thanks in advance

I shimmed a 1.25 to a 1.35 and it was much better. SB of course. This lead me to consider blade exposure as a better way of measuring my preferences than gap alone.

How do you like the .80? I have a postponed order I’m considering using on a Ti .80. The exposure is supposedly .17 — similar to that of the blackbird and a couple other razors I enjoy.

Hey Tony

The .80 WR1 has a lot of blade feel. Does the job but not exactly a smooth driver for me. I like my Lupo .72 better so I probably should have ordered a lower gap WR1… and higher gap WR2

I have 1.45 SB and a 1.15 OC / 1.25 SB. I love my 1.45 SB. Very smooth with no bite. Most closely shaves like my Carbon CX + plate, if that reference means anything to you. Also, I don't have particularly thick facial hair growth, so I shave almost entirely ATG with one pass and buffing, so can't really commend on WTG and XTG passes.

I also have the WR1 .74 and it feels quite similar to the WR2 1.25. It is a beautiful razor, but the WR2 1.45 has spoiled me.

Now that JD has removed the incentive to flip and profit from his razors, I propose
that customers be allowed to purchase multiple razors/heads/handles.

In all materials.

"I'll take 2 bronze, 1 copper and 3 Ti please."

Let's bring back the spirit of free enterprise.

Sick of all this shit that requires rejoining the list again and again.

Depends on how deep your pockets are. I like the one to a customer rule. I also like the order form, and don't send another in until you've received your latest. For one thing it gives me time to 'catch my breath' financially, to be able to afford yet another obscure object of desire I need like I need another hole in my head.  Smile

Also, it enables James/Joel to keep up with orders so the wait is currently 3-4 months, rather than a year !
