Is it worth going for an OC version ?

The impression I've gotten after reading most of this thread is
1) SB and OC feel the same/subjective at 1.25 or less
2) People prefer WR2 to be SB, because it is smoother.
3) OC works is better with WR1 than WR2.

I don't have a wolfman razor yet, I've been on the waiting list since Nov hoping for WR2 1.25 or higher. I generally prefer OC and in my rotation enjoy more blade-feel razors (Gillette New Improved, R41), my daily driver is usually Gillette New Deluxe or Rex Ambassador set at 3 or higher.

I prefer the look of the WR2 OC, but haven't seen much validation that it's a wise choice compared to SB

Perhaps you might find a DC the best of both worlds. I've got a couple in WR1, and one in WR2. I've got a WR2 OC 1.25 that I like very much, and the OC side of my DC is 1.15, and it is also quite good.

WR1 .80 DC satin brushed, head only $325.93

This is a good gap no doubt, and one that I have lived with for 6 months.

Smooth and mid-efficient for my mug....very good daily driver. Loved it.

I'm happy to inform you that the Gillette #77 RFB (OC) made in UK
gives this WR1 gap a damn good fight. In my book, it even wins.

It appears that orders placed after me have been contacted ... is it in good form at this point to reach out or maybe give a little more time? I made note to wait until my last razor arrived before placing my next order so it cant be that... just not sure if certain components are shipping faster than others etc... any thoughts?

Question for those who have a wrh2 handle in basic brushed.  Are you happy with the finish?  Do you wish you paid more for the upcharge satin?  I have other handles with basic brushed and I am okay with their look but wonder if the wrh2 style might benefit from the extra attention.  Thoughts?

I don't have a basic brushed Wolfman but do have one in the old brushed (matte) finish and another in the new (shiny) satin.

Comparing photos the new basic brushed is *not* the same standard as the old brushed, i.e. has texture and machine marks (I don't mean the brushing). The new satin finish is not matte like the other brushed finishes but pretty highly polished, not mirror but very shiny.

Depends what you think about shiny razors but my favourite is the old brushed matte finish. I'd look for a WRH2 in the old brushed if you can.

I don‘t have the brushed finish, but a basic polish wrh2. If there is one Wolfman handle where I wouldn‘t be too concerned with a matt finish, it is this one. Due to the knurling, I think the choice of finish isn‘t as important as with the smoother handles.

The #77 that is a two piece or three piece?

I would look for an older one but I also want it to be hollow. That forces me to a new one.

Good point, so the hollow handles came in with the new finishes? Always wondered about that.
