I would love to get some thoughts from you, who already have Wolfman, whether the gap you chose satisfies your needs, or wished you had ordered a wider gap. Also, OC vs. SB? I also have razors with both. Lastly, the DC is fairly interesting. Do any of you own this version and do you have a game plan for switching back and forth?
Thank you in advance.
Different strokes for different folks. If you like a 2011 R-41 a 1.05 is going to be too mild. I'd go minimum 1.25. Really I'd say go for the gusto and do 1.55. I can say that because LOOT kindly sent me his Ti 1.55 SB for a tryout. It's the 'cat's whiskers' !

I've got DCs in both WR1, and WR2. My preference is opposite that of pork's. I prefer the lower gap on the OC, and the higher on the SB. I also do 2 passes, and I do the lower gap OC on the first, the WTG pass. Now that the lion's share of the whiskers has been taken down I clean up the remaining stubble with the milder SB doing the ATG pass.

My WR2 DC is 1.15 OC and 1.25 SB. There is a school of thought, which I agree with, that an OC will be equivalent to the next higher gap than the SB of the same gap. Or close to it. I also have a WR2 1.25 OC and it is a great shaver.

My other two DCs are WR1 .74, and .94 ... both great shavers, and I use them as described above. OC first pass, SB clean up.

My Google order went in on Sept 10, so I probably won't be seeing the coveted 3rd email until summer time, but I'm going 1.55 DC.
Thank you for your response.
Am I to understand, that the DC has two different gaps? Not just a SB and a OC?

I have owned a few DC WR2s. I get the higher gap in OC and use it for the first pass. I use the SB, milder gap for the second pass (I only do two). Every once in a while, I'll use a single gap, just for the heck of it. It's twice as much rinsing and you might want to replace blades sooner if you notice one side wears faster the other.

Back when I thought I'd only own one WR2, a DC seemed like a great idea. After falling into the rabbit hole, I found I prefer single gap SBs. I still have one DC though, a Ti 1.25OC/1.15SB. It's actually a pretty great combo, but I couldn't use the OC side daily. If I shaved every 2-3 days, I could get by with just this razor and not feel like I'm missing anything.

I usually shave 6 out of 7 days and my Ti 1.05 SB works great for me. I'm not too crazy about the OC WR2.
Is the OC too aggressive for your tastes?

It's fine if I haven't shaved in a couple days. It's a little too much blade feel for me if I uses it with only 24 hours growth. I just used the DC just now. I shaved 6 days in a row...today was day 6. The OC was a little too much for me. It wasn't a bad experience or anything...just feels better when my skin is a little rougher.

The DC can have the same gap or two different gaps. But even OC and SB heads can have two different gaps if you want them to.

Personally I now have decided I like a DC to both have the same gap. My two WR1s do, and a Charcoal Goods Lv2. My WR2, with the two different gaps is cool, but I like the same gap better.

My first foray into Wolfman razors was a few years back, and I had to pay high dollars on ebay to get them. Both .61, a SB, and an OC. I've since sold them, as the higher gaps, even the WR1 .74, are preferable for me.

Having the two heads, OC/SB, combined in one head is expedient. I don't mind the added rinsing, and I like the OC first, SB cleanup. YMMV.

A WR2 1.35mm SB is going to get you the same results as the 2011 R41 but do it much, much more comfortably. If your face can tolerate daily use and even likes the face feel of the R41...you'd probably like the OC WR2 heads. I had 115 and 125 DC heads and found no difference in efficiency but a marked difference in face feel from SB to OC. All of my WR2 heads are now SB.

I think you should get the 155SB if your regrowth is fast enough to feed it. It has maybe a little less blade feel than the R41, cuts closer, and doesn't lose much comfort to the 1.35SB. I'm not a daily shaver but I did run the 1.55SB for a 7 or 8 consecutive days with no issues other than never having enough stubble to really deal with it.

If I only had one head and I shaved daily, it would be a 115 or 125SB. They more closely align with my regrowth cycle.

What LOOT said above about the regrowth cycle is an important consideration. If you have an assortment to pick from, you can tailor your gaps/exposure to you shaving habits. For instance, I don't have to shave daily, being retired.

Lately I've been doing so anyway only because I've rekindled my enjoyment by trying various blades, heads, handle combinations.

Also Dragonsbeard's thread with the BBS scale has me hooked.

As to SB versus OC. Karve shaving's site says an OC is equivalent to one gap up the scale. LOOT notices no difference in efficiency, but I do. Not contradicting his experience, different strokes for different folks.

For instance. Last night I shave 1 days growth with a Charcoal Goods Lv2 DC. I've been trying to ascertain why I don't find the Lv2 SB efficient, while others love it.

I picked up a Lv 2 OC and it delivered the goods for me, unlike the SB. So I sold 2 SB plates I had (Lv2) and kept my Lv 3s.
Not long after I scored a Lv 2 DC .. because it was there.  Rolleyes

Yesterday I shaved with the DC, but using the SB side only. The thing was I got a good BBS 2 on the Dragonsbeard scale, but I had to really work for it.

If figured out why I like large gaps with more exposure. They are just more efficient, albeit at the risk of irritation, and/or nicks and weepers if your're not on your game.

Of course it depends on the individual's skin/beard ... and technique. I will say that my WR2 1.25 could be my one and only and I'd be fine.

It's been great reading all the comments about the WR2 head gaps, and the SB or OC discussion.
I have confirmed my order with James (and paid the invoice!) for a WR2 1.15 DC.
I'm going with the dual comb OC/SB with 1.15 on both.
I use a SS Timeless .68 OC, and a SS Karve with #C and #D SB plates.
Yes, would have been a lot cheaper to buy a Timeless .95 plate and/or a Karve #E plate, but where's the fun in that?
I'm picking the 1.15 gap to be the sweet spot for me.
Thanks to all the info you existing WR2 owners have shared.
It has helped a lot.

For those that have high gap/high blade exposure WR2s - may I ask how you are using them with regards to blade angle during the shave process? In this thread there have been some closeups with regards to blade exposure and I'm thinking there is no way that someone can shave with that razor with both the top cap and safety bar on their face at the same time or else the blade would have to be in their skin. Is this assumption true? Are you all riding the top cap and rolling to the blade or reverse (riding safety bar and rolling to blade)? Forgive the naivete, I only own a .95 and have been unable to shave comfortably with any of my razors that have had large amounts of blade exposure (all non-wolfman) so I have little understanding on how to use one properly.

Good question...I'm a steep angle shaver. I'd be surprised if there is a whole lot of top cap involved. Every razor I've owned was worked the same way. Only the 2019 Rocnel Sailor, on large gaps, has really forced me to ride the cap. Just remember, your face isn't a flat plane like the red lines in the pictures demonstrating exposure...nor is it a fixed surface. Your skin will give enough to keep the blade from taking layers of flesh. Pressure is also kinda important too. Just enough to make the blade cut without skipping.

The WR2 head is very forgiving, even shimmed to 2.0+ mm gaps....without a substantial drop in comfort.
