I have the SS hollowed version WRH1 & WRH2 handles, standard length. Really like the balance with the WR2 head.

Well, that varies. For instance, when I got the WR2 DC 1.15 OC/1.25 SB directly from James it was love at first shave. The same for the WR2 0C 1.25 I bought from a forum member shortly thereafter. I suppose, if memory serves I could say the same for the WR1 DC .74, and WR1 OC .86 purchased on ebay years ago.

This razor didn't impress me in that way. So I suppose I'm trying to find a combination between blade and handle that will suit me and give me the same satisfaction I've gotten from the aforementioned razors. I know LOOT likes the .94, and IIRC others do as well.

Eventually if I can't find the sweet spot for it I'll see if there might not be someone out there who might like it better than I do, but I want to give it a real chance before I give up on it. Going to try a red personna in it today.
I guess this is why we try so many razors and combinations. I kind of like the .74 OC and .86 SB both. But I'm not so sure they're that much different than others, for the $$$.
It's just interesting to me what others go through also. Some razors just irritate me one way or the other, maybe in two ways.lol
Earlier tonight I shaved with the .94 again. This time with a Red Personna. Some time ago I determined that using a mild blade in an aggressive razor, and an aggressive blade in a mild razor, was a good combination. And so it was tonight. That said, the .94 must have more blade exposure than I like. OTOH, once I started trying to get the feel of it I began shaving with it daily. You might say I got on a mission.

I normally do every other day, or maybe skip a couple of days. So I might be better off taking a break and giving something else a chance, come back to the .94 when I have a day or two of growth. Today I also used the shortest WRH handle I have, a WRH2 80mm. I had been using the longest WRH3, and maybe the increased leverage of the long handle contributed to the feeling.

Or maybe I'm overthinking it all ...  Rolleyes

The 0.80mm OC in WR1 is indeed a good razor.
However I have to say that the vintage 2-piece Gillette RFB razor in the #77 set delivered
a shave that easily matched it....plus it was smoother.

Special delivery today! I went with the basic polish on a hollow WR2 handle and a last minute change to the 1.25 from a 1.15 gap. I had my eye on the tracking and waited to shave. I’m really happy my choice. I like the balance on the hollow handle and the 1.25 was nothing to fear. Excellent smooth shave with and against the grain. I’m looking forward to many more shaves with this beautiful razor! Big Grin

I just got a wr2 in 0.95 and it has a slight positive blade exposure. I tested it by rolling the razor from safety bar to blade on a flat service (as previously mentioned). This is how I have always tested for this.

I chickened out on getting a higher blade gap because I generally like mild razors. My favorite razor before this was a Timeless SS 0.68 SB. For me, the WR2 was more efficient without adding any aggression. I have only had it for a couple weeks but have had good luck with Gillette 7 o'clock yellows and not so good luck with Feather or GSBs.

That’s surprising. I thought James himself said that the 1.15 has a neutral blade exposure. If so, hard to believe the 0.95 would have positive exposure.

Gorgeous!  That is the exact razor I have on order, except I opted for the solid handle.  When my number comes up should I change it to the hollow handle?  Opinions?

That’s a matter of preference on razor balance. I’ve been using a Timeless SS head on a titanium handle. I like that the razor is a bit head heavy. To me, it feels like the weight of the head does all the work, without any added pressure. If you have a titanium or aluminum handle, try it on a ss head and see how you like it.
