I got a 1.25 after reading your posts.
My favorite razors are straight razors (yeah, sorry, but that its how it is). Favorite DE are Rockwell @ 3-5, GC.84, Gillette RFB and Hybrid, karve d plate. A few SE, which I guess are not worth mentioning here.
I not used any if the DEs you listed. The 125 is gonna knock your socks off.

The std gap WR1 wasnt enough for me. In fact, I think that heD really doesnt shine until 80 gap and they just get better from there.

You made a wise choice.

I just got the 125 right before Christmas and I really like it. It’s really easy to find the right angle. It has just enough blade feel to know where the blade. I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, but it is as good as advertised. I would say it has a feel similar to a Timeless 95OC with the efficiency of the Blackbird.

Living on the edge
9 out of 10 cats would prefer a WR2 over a WR1....just for the smoothness.
Im one of them.

I definitely prefer my 1.25 WR2 to my standard gap (.74) WR1. But, that’s not an apples to apples comparison. I need a .86 WR1 to really compare to a WR2 and from what I have heard, everyone that has compared those 2 SS razors prefer the WR2 because it is smoother. Might try to trade my standard gap WR1 DC for a higher gap WR1 but I doubt anyone would be interested in that trade. Most folks that get the higher gaps don’t let go of those easily. When my number comes up soon for my next WR2 in a 1.55/1.45 DC, I won’t be getting rid of my 1.25 but I will probably sell or trade my WR1. The WR2 is just a better machine IMO!

The 'standard gap' in a WR1 is the .61. I had a couple of those and found them good, but a .74 better, and higher yet better yet. On my particular face. Then again, my Karve go to plates are G in the SB, and F in the OC. Different strokes for different folks.

I have the WR2 in 1.25 and I think it is a great razor. One of the smoothest and most efficient I've ever encountered. Perhaps, going by your preferences listed above, you'l be more suited to a .95, or a 1.15 ? Just stick with the 1.25 and use it often, until you master it. Great razor IME.

I absolutely love my WR2 1.25. Best razor in the den - so smooth and efficient. Can get in all the nooks and crannies. I resist anointing it as my grail but it checks all the boxes and I would be ok if I sold my Timeless SS, TI and Carbon except that they are great to revisit or use for travel. However, I do like an OC / SB DC like my Timeless razors and now considering the WR1 .94 DC so I sent in the google form last week which we all know I have plenty of time to decide. James has communicated that he plans to take TI orders this year and I think the .94 would be great candidate. Just to add more fuel to the fire I always can go WR2 1.55 /1.45Ti SB..... Like george1906 I will not give up the 1.25 as I find it to be, in my experience, a great daily shaver. Right now I am in the process of learning how my go to blades perform with the 1.25 . First blade was a Polsilver, 2nd blade was a Wizamet, last shave with a Kai yesterday and will try a Feather next. Each blade was used for a week of 3 pass shaves. The aggressiveness of the gap can be altered with the sharpness of the blade and so far the Wizamet may be the blade of choice.

I don’t have a desire to try a higher gap WR2. I think I hit my sweet spot in my first attempt. I would like to try a higher gap than standard in the wr1 though.

In WR1 I have .74 DC, .86 OC, and .94 DC. The .94 being the most recent acquisition. I think I like the .86  better than the .94. I'm still working on 'getting to know' the .94, but that is where it is right now.

Words can’t express how amazing this razor is, I also don’t have a desire to move up from the .95 blade gap or chase a Ti WR2, love the SS. It has the blade feel or lack of as a Level 1 CG or Timeless .68, as smooth as either of them but more efficient than the CG Level 2... about the efficiency of a SB Blackbird. This razor is so comfortable on the skin. There’s nothing I’d change about it. It’s my only razor and completely a RAD killer. Similar note Midnight & Two newest formula of their shave soap has become a soap RAD killer for me too, for me it’s the WR2 of the shave soap world.

Why's that Jimmy? Is it noticeably smoother for you?
