But three daily passes hurt my skin after five days in a row, so trying to get an equal result using only two passages (WTG + ATG), I tried shim this week.

I used cut Feather blade for the wedge.

At first I tried only with one blade (theoretically turning my WR2 to 1.15) but, being very honest, I hardly saw any difference in effectiveness, the result didn't satisfy me.

I then tried using two shims (going approximately to 1.25).

So I got a better result but it still hasn't satisfied me with two passes.

I will not try to put another shim. After these tests I wonder if just adding the two shims will make WR2 1.05 really behave like a WR2 1.25 ....

I don't know if adding shims changes anything from the blade angle to an original 1.25 ...

I don't even know if an original 1.25 would be able to meet my goal of making only two passes

Anyway, I will use my WR2 again as original (1.05) and doing three passes with each shave.

A single blade shim, I agree, is not much of a change. Don't give up on shims tho, just on the ones made of blades. Invest the 20 minutes (tops) it will take you to make a plastic one. Find a .3-.5mm thick piece of plastic and go for it. If you don't have calipers, just experiment with plastic food packaging. It's well worth the effort.

I just put the same .4mm shim in a 115Ti. It was easily in 145-155 range and yet, very smooth. Remarkable, really.

So Now That We Know This, It Answers The Question If It's Worth Going Up or Down One Blade Gap.

I was contemplating Going To a 1.25 SB from my 1.15 SB Should I hit the lotto again, and be Able to Acquire Another... But this tells me I should Jump Right to a 1.35 to notice a Difference...

Thanks,

Tony

+1 on this,

I was considering upping my first order (if it comes in) from 1.05 to 1.15,
Now I'm considering heading middle of the road @ 1.25/1.35 for my first Wr2.....

The luxury of choice can be so confusing.....

Not to argue your interpretation but you missed the key point.  Properly shimmed, your 115 IS a 135.  Don't torture yourself chasing another razor...unless you just want another one.  In that case, who am I to argue?  Make a shim and effectively have a 135 in your hand tomorrow.  Thas all I'm sayin.

I believe you meant 0.3 or 0.5mm correct?

Either way you convinced me again. I will look for some way to make a 0.2mm hard plastic shim (credit card?).

Correct 0.3mm to 0.5mm

Credit cards are around .8mm...I've not used anything that thick.

I Appreciate That Loot!

But while I think this whole thing is a great idea, and a great tool to TEST, if a Particular Gap is suited for your needs, and is worth investing in a new razor for.

I'm Somewhat too Leery of the... Let's Say Imprecision of it all to use it on a long term basis.

Thanks,

Tony

Just received and shaved with WR2 SS SB 1.55. WOW!!!Ihave a SS 1.25 and a TI 1.35. Can't believe how efficient and yet still very smooth. I feel people should not hesitate and getting a more aggressive blade gap setting because they just increases efficiency that yet still remains smooth.
