Guys here are the pictures of my WR2 I received from 6/14/2019  drop. I am in NJ so from Edmonton to NJ order to receiving it just took 12 days!

I have a wr2 polished mirror head with a 100 mm wrh2 handle solid and wra1 stand. The handle and stand are base polish the head is mirror polish.

My observation is base polish is just as good! Of course there is a small difference but if you are not a crazy perfectionist base polish is pretty darn close. This move I think will get this razor now in more hands! As polishing takes more time since James is a perfectionist he wants to be paid more and as there is a cost involved there will be less people ordering.  Base polish is what most people will order which now is at a low cost and so more people will be able to enjoy it Smile He will be able to produce more of them.

This is my first wolfman and it looks like jewelry! Level of detail is extraordinary Smile

Will post shave experience tomorrow.

The low gap vs high gap debate is interesting.

For me, I think using a mild, low gap option would also be skin threatening,
as I would need to keep buffing areas that aren't fully smooth....which in turn,
can also cause distress to the skin. That is why I shied away from a low gap wolfman.
But I wouldn't go 1.35 or 1.55 either, as I feel that may be too much for daily use.

The trick I suppose is to find the max gap that your face can handle comfortably
every day.

1.15 SB does that for me...and by extrapolating, I feel 1.25SB would too.

Personally I don’t ever feel the need to buff over spots that aren’t perfect. I do 2-3 passes, usually 2, and I leave it alone. Excessive passes and buffing, regardless of gap will create issues

I Agree with Tester... I do the same thing... The Area on the sides of my mouth and an Inch or so down toward my chin are So Stubborn!

It's a Pain, but one good thing is, it absolutely makes it Easy to Judge BLADES, and How Close a Razor shaves. I need to Buff that Area!

The Feather & Astra Gets the Dark Shadow the Lightest of any blades with a Nachett taking up Third. But If I use a Feather Everyday.
It Beats Me Up! I start seeing some bumps & Irritation after 2 days straight... The Astra I can go 3 days... Then it's easy to throw a Permasharp...
(Still pretty sharp, and decently smooth), in the Timeless .68 SB, and the Next Day I'm good to go!

Bottom line is Everybody's Face is like a Fingerprint... There can be similar ones, but no 2 are exactly the Same!

You Have to Experiment, and that means getting some nicks, and red spots.. Cause you won't know where the line is till you get to it.

I've Tried a New Razor, and got bad Bumps and Red Spots that took almost 2 months to Heal!

But like Mom Always Said... "You Gotta Break Some Eggs, To Bake A Cake!"

Thanks,

Tony

I find that I can use both my high gap Wolfman and other very efficient razors on a daily basis but I usually only need one pass for a daily shave and some razors like my Ti WR2 1.35 or 1st Gen Tradere can give me a 90% BBS in just 1 pass if I’m using it daily as there’s not that much growth to take down.
Just my experience on the subject.

I had an amazing shave today with my WR2. This razor certainly lives up to the hype, so guys with patience will be rewarded!

OC 1.15 side gives good blade feel and to be frank I was done after the first WTG pass as it was very close. But of course, I went for the second XTG pass with 1.05 SB side and this time the blade feel was a lot less but still very efficient, personally I like blade feel as it helps me shave at exact location I want. I only do two passes as ATG is just too much for me.

My problem area has always been on chin and I don’t think I can get it BBS without buffing even with a straight razor, but I always end up over buffing and alum block sting always confirms that. Rest everywhere it was very very smooth.

Now, even I am thinking to get a 1.25 OC and 1.15 SB combo next time, that might help me buff a lot less than I usually do. But I don’t know yet for sure as this was my first shave I still need to experiment more with the razor. This is definitely my number 1 razor now, CG Lvl2 has been dethroned in my den Smile

This morning I just shaved a 3 day growth with a WR-1 .86 gap OC. This is about as aggressive as I would want, so I'd like to know what the .86 compares to with the WR-2 gaps, should I ever have the pleasure of acquiring one.

I have a WR-1 DC .74 and it is good enough for 2-3 days growth as well, without as much blade feel.

When I first got Wolfman razors it was a pair of WR-1 .61 OC & SB. Of the two I prefer the SB. I was thinking of selling them, but if I'm shaving one days growth either of them is just fine, and they are lovely, so I'm hanging on to them.

Tradere was mentioned. I have a 1st gen OC, and a 2nd gen SB. I much prefer the 2nd gen SB in terms of comfort/blade exposure/feel. The OC is certainly efficient, but a bit much in blade feel, and I have to shave with a certain level of caution/concentration. Not in the relaxed manner I can with a less aggressive razor.

That's easy...1.25...it will be a tad more efficient, but noticeably smoother and gentler on the face.

So this thread seems to include extensive experiences with multiple Wolfman razors and various gaps. The only thing everyone seems to agree on is the beauty and workmanship of these razors especially regarding the shine. In fact the web site recently noted new higher prices depending on the finish requested. So can someone actually quantify the finish and compare it to other polished stainless razors (ie Timeless, Blackland, Raw etc) ? I am not a metal worker or engineer but there is a device called a Gloss Meter that can objectively measure a metal's reflectivity/shine which is much cheaper than an actual Wolfman that can quantify it's shine.

I think that could give us some useful information of any razor's finish.

I haven’t seen any other razors come close to the mirror polish on a WM. Raw comes close but not exactly
