Still not bad. It is basic polish I can understand not as good as mirror.
But it is not as good as previous basic polish release.

It is still mirror.
I took an unused base plate photo. It is easier to see under blue light.
There are small circles machine marks at the edges. The center flat part is not perfect.

The original basic mirror finish was pretty damn good. It wasn't the upgraded mirror finish but it was very close. Most wouldn't even notice the difference especially if you didn't have a mirror one to compare. Now with machine marks showing through it shows that the finish of the basic isn't as thorough and stopped short of getting a better and closer mirror. The only option is upgrading if one desires an immaculate finish.

Living on the edge
I am in the minority as I never liked the basic polish...once you've handled his
mirror polish it's hard to....the basic looks almost tacky to me....but Im treading
on dangerous ground here, so I'll step off.

I really dig the looks of the mirror polish or any really shiny razor.
I think it was my wallet that told me I could try more out if I went for the less expensive versions. ( Maybe it was me that told my wallet)

I got the first basic polished one (WR2-155DC) in November 2019.

I can say 2019 basic polished razor has excellent finish. It is same as my other high-polished Wolfman.
The new razor I received today has many machine marks on it. I think he dropped the quality of basic polish.

I only bought one in the new basic polish, my WR2 1.55. I felt it was too good. In the sense that while it wasn't as perfect as the mirror polish, it negatively affected the used market for the original mirror polished. Before this new system there was no alternative to the higher priced originals. Back when a used Wolfman sold quickly. Now they languish on ebay and shaving forums.

It’s Inevitable that with high demand for a bespoke item ultimately requires faster production methods,
First upgrade is Tara in the office plus now an apprentice to reduce wait times,
The ‘Wolfman’s apprentice’ shall no doubt learn the trade in regards to quality control but some sub std finishes may slip through, this would be normal in most business moving from bespoke to high productivity.
JD always puts the customer first & accepts criticism in finish & accepts returns, no worries there.

If only the Originals had serial numbers…….
Alas, Wolfman razors are no longer a true bespoke one craftsman product, does this matter?……… Cool

He instantly accepted my return request. He has very good service.
He didn't even ask for photos, or no discussion.

Yeah. I haven't used it. I told him I got better finish in 2019. If he is OK, I ask to return it.
He said He was happy to refund me.

I didn't use the razor, may be that is why.
