For those who have both the 1.65 and the 1.55, how much is lost in smoothness when going up from the 1.55?

For those who have both the 1.65 and the 1.55, how much is lost in smoothness when going up from the 1.55?

No smoothness lost at all for me. The difference is a bit more blade feel and more efficiency.

Agreed. The 1.65 is a lot of fun. I had 8 or 10 days growth. The razor I was using just didn't seem to be working well. The 165 was loaded with a Feather to make sure my issue was cause by the first razor, and not my forgetting how to use a DE during the downtime. It was the razor (loaner, my first use). I finished the shave with the 1.65. It's special.

Only if I did 1 hybrid pass and was ok with 90% BBS. If your beard pattern is less Starry Night-ish than mine, you could be totally clean on the face and jawline in 1 pass, without much thought. No way I'd go 2.5 passes daily. I'll drop to a 1.25 thank you very much. My neck would revolt.

I agree with that assessment. I shave every other day and I could not use the 1.65 or 1.55 every day but maybe every other day but I’m not sure. That is one reason I love my adjustable razors because you can adjust the aggressiveness down or up as you go.

For those keeping track at home, I put my name on the list on February 16 and received an email confirming my order today. I've got a few too many things going on at the moment, so I'm postponing my order.

How mild/smooth/efficient is the 1.05 WR2? I know there is a 0.95 gap available.
I'm on the list for a WR1 0.48/0.54 but have been offered a 1.05 WR2 but have no idea with gaps for the WR2.
I'm using a Tatara Masamune at the moment.

Presuming you fond of the Tatara, the 1,05 going to be a bridge too far in my experience. Not as though it will tear your face to shreds but just uncomfortable. You need stick to 0,95 in WR2 and, being honest, even a 0,54 in WR1 going to be somewhat pushing it. The 0,48 WR1 is about spot on to the Masamune. Have owned all the razors discussed and conducted passarounds on all the Tatara to date. The WR2 is quite smooth in 1,05 but you an outlier in preferring exceptionally mild razors

I speak having owned these razors. Wr2 95 = wr1 54. Wr2 105 = wr1 61. I liked the former, but kept the later because I always found myself wanting a tad more efficiency than the milder versions provided.

I am pleased to say that I put my order in on February 14th, and got my “proceed with order” email yesterday.

Based on what’s already in my den, I ordered a WR2 SB head, with a 1.05 mm gap and the basic polished/textured finish. I chose the WRH1 handle, solid, 90 mm, also in the basic polished/textured finish. (I specified no stand).

My face seems to like the WR2 more than the WR1. As for the gap, I have the 1.15 and 1.25 already covered, and they are both exceptional. But the slightly milder 1.05 could be a comfortable and worry-free daily shaver for my face. I chose the basic polish to keep the costs down and because the basic polish will promote daily use, by avoiding concerns about preserving a mirror finish. I’m careful with such things but, in my experience, things that get used eventually acquire “signs of usage.” In this case, it is my sincere hope that my first-ever brand new Wolfman razor will be used, enjoyed, and appreciated in actual practice!
