Figured I’d post some pics of finishes since I couldn’t find very many. One is basic brushed and one is the upcharged brushed satin. Brushed satin was purchased direct from james. Basic brushed purchased second hand.left one is basic and right is satin

The horror! Absolutely slumming it!

In all seriousness, nothing wrong with either. Mirror probably glides better but without having one in hand to compare, prolly wouldn't notice much difference. Those brushed finishes would certainly wear better than mirror tho. Always presentable, never really needing a deep clean to be photo ready. Lots of brushed advantages, cost savings aside.

Took the .94 OC for a spin today and had a fantastic face shave. I’ve been using the Lupo .95 quite a bit so it was great to reacquaint myself with the WR1. The .94 WR1 handily beats the Lupo on efficiency but does so with increased blade feel (which I prefer) and decreased smoothness. The WR1 is the superior tool for me but I highly recommend trying the Lupo if you’re a fan of the WR1.

Guys, I could use your thoughts on where to go next with Wolfman.  I’m 2 for 2 on great razors.
  • WR2 DC SB 1.15/1.25 with hollow WRH3
  • WR1 DC OC .86/.94 with a Darwin
Both razors work great for me.  I usually use both sides for most shaves - higher gap for the easy areas and lower gap for the tricky areas or for advanced techniques.  I can use the aggressive sides only, but often get irritation on my neck.  I prefer the WR1, mostly for the blade feel.

I see 2 alternatives:  WR1 DC OC .74/.80 or  WR2 in some version of the higher gaps.  I am inclined to go for the WR1 for easy comfortable shaves.  If I do go higher in the WR2, I wonder about keeping the lower gap at 1.15 on one side, as it’s perfect for the tricky areas.   Either way, I’ll get a WRH7 handle.

Finally, I could grab a Blackbird instead - never used one.

I have WR2 DC 1.15 OC/1.25 SB with the WRH7 long hollow ... outstanding ! WR1 .94 DC, .86 OC, and .74 DC. All handles in one form or another.

The .74 is a very efficient and comfortable shave. Easily could be a daily shaver, but good for two/three days growth as well.

If you go with a WRH7 handle I'd recommend the long hollow, though the standard 90mm solid is good too.

I'd definitely go WR2 1.55 ... mine is SB and that is fine, with a 90mm WRH3 solid. Go for a 1.55 DC if you feel froggy  Smile

Definitely get a Blackbird ! I haven't tried the Ti .... yet ... but the SS is awesome ... I wouldn't be without one in my den ... so I have two ... and SB and an OC with long and short handles.

Going to be a dissenting voice as to a Blackbird.  At a minimum, though you can try it (Shane does stand by his product with a 60 day return policy). In the fall, I tried the Blackbird in stainless with both combs.  I wanted to like it but simply did not.  It went back.  Between it and my Wolfman there was no comparison for me.  Fwiw, I'm entirely happy with my WR1 .61 SB and a hollow WRH7 90mm.  I could use it as a daily without problem but the only reason I don't is that I have a few other excellent razors (it's probably my number 2 overall).  Today I did use it and had a great shave (also posting that in the SOTD).

So which razor beats it?
