Thanks George - would love to see a picture of your gaslamp when you have one! Just among the best knots around!

Not to change the subject but .... So I sent in my google order form on Nov 2nd 2021.

Received a go ahead on April 8. So from ordering until receipt of the do it or get off the pot was 6 months.

I procrastinated for 10 days, unable to make up my mind, but finally went with

WR1 0.80 SB in basic polish bronze

Darwin handle, and yes I'm going for the stand.

Now I'm second guessing the gap.

Anyone like the 0.80 particularly ?

I've got a number of high gap WRs .... 1 & 2. Sold my 0.61s years ago once I got a WR1 0.74 DC.

I feel like the 0.80 will be the sweet spot. If not I guess I'll have to wait 6 more months to try again.  Rolleyes

Contemplating a 0.67. Bigger gaps are cool, but sometimes too much of a good thing.

I had .74, .80, .86 and .94. I love higher gaps so I sold the .74 and .80. The .86 is my favorite with the .94 coming in second place in the WR1 range.

Thanks for the reply, we're darn near on the same page. I have the 0.74 DC, a 0.86 OC, and a 0.94 DC. I like the efficiency of the higher gaps, but sometimes they can be a bit harsh. Maybe I'm too heavy handed some of the time.

When I got the 0.94 DC it took me many shaves to get the hang of that one. Once I mistook the 0.74 for the .94 (I'm always mixing handles) and thought what a great shave ... only afterwards realizing it was the 0.74.

I've accepted the theory that an OC will shave a gap higher than the same gap in SB. So figuring I like the OC side of the .74 DC an .80 would be right on the money. I guess I'll have to buy it to find out.

Yeah man, I think my end game WR1’s would be DC .86SB/.80OC in titanium and copper or antique bronze.
