Since this thread is about “Wolfman proper,” I don’t want to derail it, but at the same time I can’t help but wonder what happened to the Guerrilla. Does anyone have any information about that?

It was (as I understand it) supposed to help get a Wolfman-made razor into the hands of more users (and at a more affordable price than the top-of-the-line razors), but disappeared from the site a number of weeks ago…

The guy who made the Guerrillas quit so James took it off the website as he can’t make Wolfmans, BBS-1 and The Guerrilla by himself.

Thanks, iShave. I knew there had to be some explanation for it, I just hadn’t heard it. A shame, really — was looking forward to getting an open comb Guerrilla, eventually. (On the other hand, it was nice to hear that the BBS-1 will continue to be produced. That razor is a legend, and the more are made, the better.)

Matsilainen I believe if you email James you can still buy a Guerrilla razor, he’ll make it for you, but doesn’t have them readily made, he took them off the site to work on other projects.

I really enjoy my Wolfman razor, but I couldn't pay that much for one. That being said, I think the price increase is justified. He's been having trouble keeping them in stock for a couple of years now, so demand is definitely exceeding supply.

They are still so scarcely available with enough demand that I don't think the price increase will dampen any enthusiasm for purchasing them when put up for sale. In the short term, I think it will raise scalping prices.

If by other projects, do you mean other razor projects?

If so that doesn't make a whole lot of sense since he can't handle the supply issue at hand.

I doubt it’ll raise scalpers prices, it’ll cut out their profit for sure. Scalpers may start demanding more but I think the resale prices are already pushing what people are willing to pay, with all the other options available it’ll push people to those options.

That was a common problem faced by machine shops we helped during fellowship days in grad school - as soon as trained and profitable, off they went to open own business. It would be wise if James brought in some people with consulting expertise to help him - BUT absolutely limit them to dealing with staffing P&P and marketing promotion otherwise they will destroy or steal the business.
