Wolfman Guerrilla 2023 Version

Why is it when some people see a razor with anything but a polished finished on a razor they automatically think the razor will create some form of drag because of its finish and not even think that it could have something to do with the soap they are using...it's always the finish's fault!! I for one will say that that is just BS as I've had both polished, machined, and satin finish and have never noticed any form of drag from any razor ever!! I'm sure that has everything to do with the Stirling soap I use and it being the slickest soap I've ever used, period... My preference is actually a machined finish and in titanium being the best combo I've ever used.

It is simple science, Mirror polish - by definition, will glide better. Nothing to do with taste, I like the matte look. In termes of gliding - always a mirror surface will glide better. By the way, I use Sterling on a daily basis

but your "simple science" has never been proven by science, definition, or any other means... I do realize and respect that it is of your opinion, but again, never been proven by science!

Any surface, if polished and against another surface - will create less friction than the same surface not polished. This is a fact. Soap is a lubricant and assists with friction but fact remains, a polished surface creates less friction, less resistance. This is science, not an opinion.

I wonder whether he will release BBS-1..
Maybe next one Ti, Bronze, Copper BBS-1??

At one point, I could not tell a difference. Same razor heads, different finishes...I'd rub them on my dry face. No noticeable difference. One day, it occurred to me to rub them on my lips as a test. Bam! Big difference in glide on a DuFour polished Ti and a brushed Ti. At this point you say, but LOOT, I don't shave my lips! Exactly, my friend.

I'm not sure what the science says and tbh, i Iived thru the last 3 years and would be skeptical of anything associated with the term.

Since my lip experiment, I like to think i can tell the difference.

I tried an original black oxide BB in the day. That was the most drag I had felt. It had an almost suction like feel to it. I quite liked it too.

All that said, I buy mirror polish more for the look than the glide.

I do agree that some make it seem like an issue when most guys probably would never see any difference. Maybe some can tho? I'm glad you can't because polished is more expensive across the spectrum.

Personally, I hope not. For me, the BBS1 head is too light. Makes the razor razor handle heavy...even if I could get it in a bigger gap. I think the WR2 is the best the design is gonna get.

I didnt like the guerrilla...at all.

I would much prefer James concentrate his efforts on something new....an adjustable. At least a new 3 piece head.

I will be getting Guerrilla .54 Gap it’s a smooth shaver I seen it..it’s well worth it

Guerrilla OC was nice efficient razor with mild feeling. Although $200 looks reasonable for a Wolfman, you can get Lambda razor for that price. 

He needs to bring something new and fancy, if he wants to keep his fame alive.

I don't have any news about WR4 geometry.   
But, by considering WR3 design, WR4 might be like Mongoose with WR2 bar.

Try dragging your finger across a mirror or a glass. And then try draggin a wet finger across a mirror or a glass.

On the polished surface, the friction decreases up to certain limit but increases beyond that, as the irregularities are cut off but beyond a certain limit the surface molecules exert strong attractive forces on each other.

So probably, the ideal surface for shaving is something that is neither too highly polished but also not too coarse.

Is it a fact, though? Polishing also makes the surface flatter, which increases the surface area in contact with the skin, and friction is proportional to surface area. I don’t think it’s as simple as you claim. The way a surface behaves is surely affected by many factors. Consider how far a golf ball travels due to the vortices the surface shape creates to reduce effective surface area and friction.

Anyway, in practical terms does it really make a noticeable difference? I’ve never really noticed much difference either way, and certainly not enough to matter to me. The only razors that caused a big difference for me are ones that create a suction effect, like the Henson - they must create a vacuum, somehow, in certain conditions. I don’t think drag has ever been an issue with any razor I’ve used. There are razors that glide exceptionally well, but I think more to do with the head shape (i.e. surface area) than the type of finish.
