Yes, there is definitely room in the market for products of all different price levels and you are filling a need at the top. Obviously, you have a wait list! It's great that you provide an unsurpassed quality product to the guys who can spend $300 on a razor. I'm just not one of those guys. I'm not knocking anyone who does. If you have the money, that's great, spend it on whatever you want. You do make some badass looking razors for sure. Just way out of my price range. I guess I'll have to keep enjoying them in SOTD pictures.

wyze0ne That's my take on it too. I just can't ever see myself dropping that much on a razor (or brush for that matter).

If people are willing to be put on a waiting list to buy them, he's doing something right.

All evidence has been buried, all tapes have been erased.

There is a Wolfman razor & stand being bid up on eBay for well over $400 + shipping and it continues with no end in sight. Totally insane. I could see it if James was no longer making them.

I for one am eagerly awaiting just the ability to be put on the wait list. I'm hoping to get a piece that I can pass on to my son should he so desire.

Me too, Erlenmeyer. In my case, my son-in-law can do with my high end stuff as he chooses after I 'buy the farm'.

James recently indicated that Jan. or Feb. might see the return of ordering and getting on the wait list. It's not like we have nothing to shave with while waiting for the list to reopen.

I think we have to consider that there are different levels of high end products. I daresay that anyone on this board can afford James' product. Perhaps not immediately out of petty cash, but certainly if planned for and prioritized. Settle down and use your Merkur 34c for a while rather than purchase a host of less expensive razors in the short term. How bad do you want a James crafted product?

If, however, you are of a mind to acquire a Monet or that super expensive Italian sports car you've been ogling, yes you will have to be in the 'economically privileged' class to write the check.

Movement, up or down, in financial and social groups is what capitalism and fairly free markets is all about. Get out there and hustle. That Maserati could be in your garage, someday!

The price for a wolfman is pretty crazy on eBay, but like the Cobras the vast majority of people would rather hold onto them than sell them. A testament to both the cobra and the wolfman. There are very few things that will be relevant when my son becomes of age (he's two) a DE razor and a Rolex. I don't have a Rolex so he's getting my wolfman and hopefully he treats it like a Rolex.

I don't believe I have ever seen James post on any of the forums that I currently frequent- appreciate the input! I also respect everyone's opinions and completely understand and appreciate that a Wolfman may not represent the same value across the community.

For me, I love custom, hand tooled products and collaborating with the maker. Being the case, WolfmanRazors work represents a solid value personally. Happy to be on the list, don't mind waiting and look forward to picking up what I consider an heirloom quality piece.

I think the big difference between the WMR and an iPhone is that the WMR is made to last several lifetimes, no upgrades, no obsolescence. Also, it has been perfected so there will be no bugs to fix. I respect your point of view. And I have found that shaving generally breaks the rule that you get what you pay for. So much expensive merchandise is no better than merchandise that's inexpensive when it comes to soaps, creams, blades, razors, balms. But my WMR thrills me every time I use it. It will outlast me. My only regret is that I have no kids to pass it to. Now, I got it for about $150 before the price rise, and I waited three months. I don't know if I'd pay the current price or look for a substitute. But I can't fault James for doing business his way, and the product is perfect.

Dad, is that you? Smile

I love a great value, as much or more than the next person but I also very much love individual craftsmanship in a world of mass production. Very much like supporting those who have both the skill and dedication to produce such pieces that also align with my interests.
