Hi all

I have an an old two Polsilver blade (over 8 years old) from back in the day whenever Try a blade was in business, and didn't try them until the other day that i tried and was impressed. I actually thought Gillette closed shop in St Petersburg, but apparently not.. I have been reading up on certain threads about the confusion on the Wizamets and Polsilver. I have read that Polsilver is no more, but Wizamets are the same blade some say, and others say it more smooth that Polsilver, and for me that might be a good thing because i read that Polsilver were too sharp for some. 1)I have read how rare Wizamets are. 2) There's fakes out there. 3) So buy from a reputable source. 4) Some were made in Czech?? 4) Some have Arabic writing??.

If the blade are legit from certain places then they are not rare and apparently still in production: www.superiridium.com (apparently these two are the same company) and www.iridium.com, and last Wizashave. We wet shaver's are paranoid about fake blades, i don't know why but (i am) most of us are. So apparently they must be a market for fake blades, but in the back of my mind i am thinking the market for fakes cannot be much, because how many people in the entire world shave The Traditional way??

From what i have read the ones that are still floating around that say Czech are legit too. Because somehow Poland was part of the Providence or town Czech?? I heard that the writing in Arabic is because they were made for the people in Morocco, and they speak Arabic and these are legit. I see there a difference between the printing on the blade the older Wizamets has a 'R' and the newer has 'TM'. So is the TM Wizamets legit? Are all the sites above i mentioned a legit place, or is one place preferred over another. Does anyone have a couple of Wizamets i could have to try, please? I don't have two of another blade i have already did the great blade exchange with a certain blade several times. So i guess if they say St Petersburg on the box then they probably bare all the pedigree of being the real deal??

Bought mine from Wizashave back a few years ago when I discovered them (I have over 1,000) and they are the real deal. Originally bought from Morroco and then they were selling thru a supplier in NY. Since I stocked up I haven't kept up with the which is legit or not saga unfortunately so can't speak to all that. Wizashave would be a safe bet still I would think though. If you find a blade you LOVE nowadays it pays to stock up before the controversy and copying happens because when word gets out how good a blade is, these discussions always follow.

I wonder if superiridium.com is legit?? I reach out to them amd they didn't respond either?? I have read if Proctor and Gamble is misspelled: Brocker and Gamble or if st Petersburg is misspelled they're fake??

Back when Polsilver was still in production, I purchased a few tucks. For my tough beard and sensitive skin, they were only a step above Astra SP, which do not work for me. About a year or so ago, when testing a lot of different blades, I picked up a few tucks of Wizamet. Although some people compare them to Polsilver, I found them to be vastly superior. They were very sharp and very smooth. They were good enough that I purchased additional tucks.

In the States, the only two vendors selling Wizamets are The Razor Company and Razor Emporium. In Europe they are sold by Razor Blade Club. RBC also sells through Amazon in the States.

AFAIK, the St. Petersburg blade manufacturing plant is still in operation. However, P&G Gillette is no longer associated with that facility. Gillette now makes product in China and India, perhaps elsewhere.

Any authentic Gillette product will not have any printing errors on the packaging. P&G is very brand conscious.

The Wizashave Wizamets are excellent. My favorite blades I think.

That is too bad if Wizashave is no longer in the game.

So Wizamets aren't produced by P&G/Gillette?  It has P&G on the box. They (St Petersburg) still make Wizamets.

Ray gave you the known reliable resources for Wizamets.  The rest is a crapshoot and St Petersburg doesn’t produce for P&G now.  Best to ask the vendor you are buying from or get from a trusted source.

Wizamets were produced by P&G/Gillette in St. Patersburg. Since Gillette exited the PPI relationship, I do not know if Wizamets are still being made anywhere. Available inventory is likely to have been made prior to the exit. BTW: Although Gillette left Russia, there are P&G products still being made in Russia for consumption in Russia.
