Wickham 1912 soaps

Well, you can either start a thread or wait for someone else to do one, but I'm pretty impressed with the Wickham 1912 line so I will start.

The last time I checked the only two places you can get the 1912 is directly through Wickham or through Connaught. I can only speak for Connaught, excellent service and the speed at getting stuff is better than some of the vendors here in Canada! For the price Canada Post charges, I should get items on the day I order it, but alas, it is the Canadian way....To the Soap! Nice strong scent out of the tub, just like I like it! The citrus Musk and the Cola are about a 6.5-7 out of the tub and stay that way throughout the shave(this makes me very happy btw). The post shave is, for me, right up there with SV and Pannacreama, most excellent. So, to recap, excellent scents, excellent lather, excellent glide and excellent post shave. One gripe if I may, can't get ahold of the AS, but Florida water goes well with both as the citrus is the leading note with both.

For the record, I absolutely hated Wickham soaps; the soap was too soft, the plastic container was too floppy... So when the 1912 came up for pre-order from Connaught I passed. My wife did not, bought me a tub, and that was the end of my Wickham boycott .

I can't be the only one using this gem, let's hear from others. Give Wickham some love, again!

I used 1912 for the first time this morning in fact [Club Cola]. I picked it up from Connaught and selected CC as it seemed the most interesting/unique scent among the line but I wasn't sure how much I'd like it.

Love it! Reminds me of Sarsaparilla with the caramel and citrus notes. There's a very subtle component like ginger in the mix as well.

Performance was top shelf: easy to lather, good in and post shave. Happy to have it.

One thing that struck me was that on receipt the top of the tub and been smoothed out and formed into a "bowl". Almost as if used although I am absolutely sure this is a brand new tub. Were yours similar?

That is funny! That is exactly what my wife said, I didn't think anything of it at the time. I have since cracked open the Russian Leather in my stash and it looks the same so I'm pretty sure that's normal. I have a total of 2 with their new scent cashmere and a full tub of cola (I bought a sample) on the way.

So all is good.

The formulation is new from the old plain containers. This soap is not soft at all, it's pretty solid. I picked up the lavender in the old formula and they have nothing comparable now. So on the flip side if you enjoyed the former Croap, over a solid soap, you may have to adjust your expectations.

Aside from texture, are there any other differences from the old soap in terms of performance?

It is a newer formula, I believe it began shipping in June or so. Harder than the super smooth. The new formula includes some goodies like kaolin, allantoin and jojoba for some great shave properties.

Yes, the 1912 formula is completely new from any prior Wickham soaps. Totally veggie ingredients in large 4" tubs.
When the soap is poured into the tubs, Darron puts a rounded bowl or something similar on top so the soap sets with a concave surface. All my 1912 tubs are the same way.
This 1912 formula is my favorite of all the Wickhams lineup.
