why do people get banned at shaving sites?

I took a look there awhile back, and it looks like the front page articles are more the focus now than the forums.  It makes sense, now that Reddit Wicked_Edge is now  new "big forum".  The buzz is now being driven by the merchants, not the forums.  

There is a lot of groupthink over there, as there is everywhere, but 10X worse. You better not say anything bad about Barrister and Mann because it is THE soap to have and da bestist evar. If you like soap ____ better watch out. It was funny to watch that whole group praise synergy soaps from HTGAM and how great the soap was, the slickness, etc. Then the controversy with some of what the artisan said/did happened, and it was the worst soap ever, melt and pour crap, etc. If you want to attack the guy for his behavior and not support him fine, but you can't be someone who rates a soap as a 9.5 one day, and then rates it as a 2 in a one week span. Wicked edge is like watching a group of piranahas lol.

If Wicked Edge is the Reddit group, I can't get passed the format and layout....let alone the language.

I have no idea what Reddit is, or Wicked Edge, but from the tone of the comments here, that doesn't seem to be a bad thing.

I will say that I lurked there for a LONG time just reading (You just have to sift through all of the bullshit) and discovered their, "Shave Bazaar."  It was the only reason I got a reddit account.  There are some great deals on there.  I just picked this up for $25.

If a vendor has paid big $$$, or if the forum management has a vested financial interest in moving product X from vendor Y, members had better not wax enthusiastically about product A or vendor B. The turning on HTGAM appeared to me to be an attempt to avoid negative publicity or scandal, regardless of what actually happened. My take is that this nonsense occurs on many of the forums, although not here. If that is the case, they cannot be considered reliable sources of information.

I do not think this thread is bashing other forums. Rather, it is pointing out problems seen in many types of product-oriented forum clusters. It is just something of which to be aware. Caveat emptor.

Since I've previously been the subject of discussion here, I feel it necessary to mention that I have not, nor will I ever, compensate people for reviews or well-meaning comments about my products. That which people say is a result of their own opinions and none of my doing.

I've read through this entire thread and:

1. It would be deleted on most other forums(says a lot in itself)

2. I absolutely love the open interaction between vendors/artisans and everybody else(because in reality, they are like everybody else.)

3. So far, my experience here has been very positive

I was banned from Shavenook for being classified as a "vendor." What a joke. I was selling multiple towels that I had left over from an order. I don't have a website, nor a brick and mortar facility. Who hasn't sold multiple items at once? And I'm not talking 50-100 items. I was selling FOUR towels. That's it.

No explanation, just banned. I emailed them and no response. They are a joke and a piss poor site. Karma...

The fact that this thread even exists and has not been locked down and deleted is a testament to this place.
