You are welcome.  I am glad the package got to you without any issues.

Well...... Only one small issue whollykaw I understand you call this soap Project Leather.....right.

Well I've been scratching my bloody head all day trying very hard to subscribe this scent when I open the lid, first of all thanks goodness the soap wasn't very strong as I fear myself would have my bloody head blown off.

Now....Let get back to the scent, this Wholly Kaw Project Leather is the most complex scent I've ever smell.

1. I can't smell Vanilla
2. I can smell Tobacco would this be Green Tobacco?
3. I can't smell Bourbon or maybe I could as I'm totally lost in space

So whollykaw what am I supposed to smell?? English Leather? American Leather? otherwise I've got no idea because I can't subscribe this scent when I open the lid since I've been scratching my head all day.

Sorry whollykaw ........ Please help!!

First of all I agree the name is a misnomer. The scent is not straight up leather and is a complex blend. The leather is Suede leather blended with Cardamom, Vanilla and Tobacco of the pipe tobacco variety. The scent should open up when the soap is lathered. A scent profile to pair would be Tom Ford Tobacco Oud.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. Tom Ford Tobacco Oud does not have leather in its scent description so you would need to consider that aspect as well.

Its taken a while but I did finally get a tub of Project Leather from Top of the Chain and I have to say it smells beautiful. I love it, I love everything about it especially its complexity. I will tell you I was nervous about this soap because of the name, Project Leather. You see, I'm not a fan of overpowering, hit you in the face like an old baseball mitt leather accords but I had enough confidence in your skill as a blender of scents to buy it anyway. Now contrary to what I've read from others, I can pick up a very soft, nice leather in there and its perfect. You've used the leather with subtlety rather than as a sledge hammer and I appreciate that. Leather is often over/mis-used (in my opinion) much the same way that modern IPAs are often waaaay over-hopped. Thank you for a truly wonderful soap.
Marko

PS - I see that you're doing Cuero Oscuro in DM, I think the leather heads out there will appreciate that and will be able to get their leather fix

Thank you for overcoming your hesitation and trying Project Leather. I am glad you noticed that there are other elements that are interplaying and sometimes downplaying the leather aspect of the scent. It is my attempt to restrain the overpowering facets of leather components and kinda tame the beast. I have largely succeeded in doing that.

The scent blend in its raw form has a great drydown after a couple of hours. This drydown feature does not come through in the soap due to the heat being applied but the EdT would have that drydown.

Cuero Oscuro will none of these finesse built into it and it is not a crowd pleaser.

I used Project Leather this morning and I love it - its wonderful. Clearly Winston Churchill was able to civilize Genghis Kahn and introduce him to the finer points of gentlemanly ablutions and I think we're all better for itBig Grin Seriously, this is a really nice scent profile and the soap is excellent. I had held off buying any Project Leather post shave products until I'd done a rece on the scent and now I think I'll be picking some up. Thanks!
