Small dram of Monkey Shoulder neat. First time. A little bit of bite up front but oh so smooth after. Smells delicious, tastes like a scotch base with bourbon sweetness. Good buy!

Going with one of my favorite attainable barrel proof bourbons on this rainy night in New Mexico.

Cheers!

I’ve heard that Heaven Hill Green label is a good value. I’m no expert but my favorite bottles for sipping include Elijah Craig Small Batch, Larceny, and High West double rye.

I haven’t visited Kentucky since I was a kid but Dave’s recommended link looks like a solid one.

A couple I’d add since you enjoy Elijah Craig - definitely grab some of the Elijah Craig distillery only “hand grenade” bottles. I’ve heard quite a few people say they’re as good as any bourbon you’ll find anywhere.

I’ve also been super impressed with what Wilderness Trail has been releasing in their 4 year expressions so I can only imagine how great their 6 year distillery only bottles are.

I wish you Godspeed on your travels!

With the cool weather setting in, I turn to scotch, whiskey, bourbon and rye. My absolute favorite scotch is Lagavulin 16. My favorite whiskey and bourbon are both by Clyde May's. They make a straight bourbon and an Alabama whiskey. And I like Bulleit Rye. I drink them all with one ice cube.
