Where's the glass? How is it?

Nice score on the Midwinter Nights! Really interested to hear how this years release compares to past releases.
I haven't tried it yet. And have never had it before. I'm figuring that this will be the only bottle I'll have until next year so it'll be babied and saved for nice cool nights when the holiday spirits are in the air. Sure hoping it mostly lives up to the reviews!

Well, this will be a disappointing first review. I had the smallest of tastes just to make sure I didn't need to run back to buy what they had left. I didn't need to. Now that's it's cold and we have some Christmas decorations up, I'll sit with a dram and think about it. On first taste, I didn't get the baking spices jumping out at me. I got a lot of indistinct flavor. I almost never do the adding water thing. But I think I'll see how it works with this as well.
Weekend purchases. Just doing a little more exploring.
Neither of the Oregon Spirit are full bottle worthy to me. Both pretty musty, which I understand can come from the malt. And the rye spice notes were buried in the back of the taste. The Woodford double oaked I could drink on the regular. I’m still more a scotch guy, but I can see keeping some bourbon and certainly come rye around.

I'll look forward to your update when you get a little splash of water in there and see if it opens it up. You know me Dave, I'm a bourbon boy so that Woodford Reserve looks pretty good to me

It’s probably just the neck pour. Give it a little room in the bottle and a few weeks to air out and it should open up quite a bit. At least I hope it will.

Agreed on the Woodford Double Oaked. I can’t speak to the others but if you like finished bourbons, I’d highly recommend Old Forester 1910, probably my favorite finished bourbon (also my favorite Old Forester out of the entire Whiskey Row series) for anywhere near the price.
