Hi, I just got the chance to order my custom Wolfman but need advise.

I have very sensitive skin and shave daily.  I am currently using a The Christopher Bradley Safety Razor - Brass mixing between the SB-A plate and a SB-B plate.  My issue is the 3rd pass which is Against The Grain in the mustache area between my lips and nose that is very sensitive.  I don't like much blade feel.

I have tried many razors and this one is the closest to my favourite.  I love the Mergress Adjustable Safety Razor which my second go to.

I am choosing between the WR1 .48 = -0.14  or WR2  .85 = -.09

Any advise would be appreciated.
thanks

I believe "sensitive skin" is very subjective and there is no universal answer for your question. I personally found for my skin is much better to use more efficient razors with positive blade exposure as to use mild razors. Less strokes better. Also with WR2 1.55 for example and 3 passes there is almost nothing to shave next day.. With that gap one day very close shave and next day rest and no irritations at all.
As always YMMV. Good luck with Wolfman gaps

interesting.  thank you for your thoughts.

I was leaning on maybe considering the WR2 with .95(-.04)  or 1.05(+ .01).  maybe i should go up more.  The Karve B has gap = 0.73mm / exposure = zero.  which is what i like but still burns my face.

I want to say a Wolfman---regardless of the gap, is not going to alter your current technique. IMO, I would spend $20 on a good Flair-tip Super-Speed and use it daily, paying particular attention to the lightest of touches; consistent angle and---maybe for the time being, eschewing the ATG pass.
30 days in a row. Don't switch gear. JMO.
Good Luck.
BTW, I own two Wolfman razors. Fantastic razors, but won't help technique.

Why are you shaving against the grain if it hurts? I have sensitive skin as well. Like a previous post, I also do better with razors that have a little blade feel and are more efficient than a mild razor. I would probably try the one of the standard gaps, .61 WR1 or .95 WR2.

I shave ATG as it gives me the cleanest shave.  My daily growth if i dont is more in that area by late afternoon.  I have been shaving for a good year now and dont seem to have any issue except for this "mustache" area and maybe a little at the right side of my chin where it takes me time to clean up.

I checked and i am able to get multiple plates... thinking of going with WR2-SB .85, .95 or 1.05.  2 of these 3.  Cannot decide.

thank you

WR2 is a smooth and very forgiving razor. Go dual comb, safety bar on one side and open comb on the other. That way you can have different gaps, and tell which blade gap you have. I would recommend an SB 1.05 and OC 0.95 if you have sensitive skin. Once you get used to it, you may wish to increase the blade gap on the WR2. Avoid the WR1, it's not smooth.

Another razor that's excellent for sensitive skin is the Feather AS-D2. Far less expensive that a Wolfman as well. It's made in Japan and the tolerances are very tight.

I think a Wolfman WR2 1.05 or 0.95 is pretty mild. I only have owned WR1 at 0.80 and up and enjoy it. I find it to be mindlessly smooth but many do not. I would think a 0.74 or lower would be safe for most. I think the ability to do a two pass can offset some of the danger to sensitive skin of a less efficient razor but ymmv.

WR2 is definitely the safest bet here. You can buy standalone plates for half the price of a full head if you want to grab a couple to test out. The top caps are compatible but would advise getting the same finish to get a perfectly flush fit. I've tested mixing and matching different finishes and they didn't fit as cleanly as the same finish, even across SS and Ti.

Off topic but Paradigm Diamondback is a very efficient one that's great for sensitive skin if you don't have one.

Save your money, unless you have money to burn, but if you do, and if you buy & hate the Wolfman.  List, and it will sell fast at close to what you are going to pay for it.

I have same skin problems, am old as dirt.  This am I used my Vintage Gillette Pre - War Fat Handle Tech, with Black Gillette 7-0 Clock blade, could not fathom getting a better shave than I did.  I do not do much of pre shave routine, slap water on face, lather, shave, and SHOWER POST SHAVE.

Bet if I showed before shave, did pre shave cream, used secret Unicorn Soap I bet I could get even better shave with my current 80 + year old Razor.

Think about getting a Pre War Tech.

Just an update... I tried a more aggressive setting with the Karve (D-Plate) and adjusted the technique as well. It worked wonders. Increased the angle with less riding the cap when going ATG. Need So, that complicates things more! Will continue to adjust until i find the optimum angle.

thanks for all the advise.
