When Slick is too Slick?

A few days ago I used a very nice soap, excellent shave, excellent scent, excellent cushion, but.....

It was too slick for my taste. It was annoying to have to over rinse between passes and the end of the shave.

It was the first time using it so I won't quit on it just yet, but boy, it felt like having motor oil all over my face.

Has any of you gents experienced this with any of your soaps? No need to dime out brands.

Hi Hector, not so much on this end but I usually do a first pass with more cushion which tends to cut the slickness. I then dial in the hydration gradually to get to the Goldilocks slickness for subsequent passes.

Not a bad problem to have though in the grand scheme of things!

I did use one soap, don't recall which, that was so slick that if some got on my fingers it was difficult to hold the razor without it slipping out of my hand. It shaved very well though.

Hector, I have never had much of a problem with a soap being too slick although it sounds like you are using Vancouver's extremely soft water! I can never completely rinse off any soap I use, here, especially my main soap.

At home we are blessed with a well that produces water as good as any I have ever tasted. When I travel and use very soft water, I can't stand that feeling of not being able to rinse off. Again, a first world problem....

I've never heard of this? What was the product that caused "too much slickness" so I can try it?!?!?!?!

I already said that I was not going to say. I'm just posing a question to my fellow wet shavers.

These kinds of soaps are cool with me, but there are a couple reasons. It's partially preference, but mostly the fact that I love to splash a ton of cold water on my face after the shave and therefore rinse very thoroughly. So there's not a lot that's going to be hanging around after my post-shave deluge
