Ok...ok.
I’m an experienced DE guy now, and have always been intrigued by straights.
I even purchased a Thiers-Issard 5/8 “1937 Special Coiffure”, and an Artist Club DX “Pearl” razor.
The TI is outta the box, so, probably not shave ready, but I’d like to learn to do this.
The other thing is, I know nothing about stones and honing, except, it seems hit-or-miss, and pricey for good gear.
Still...the allure of the straight razor skill, and the beauty of some of the razors I’ve seen pictured, keeps calling me...
How do I take the plunge guys?

Just do it.
Watch some YouTube videos. Start slow and learn as you go
You need a straight that is shave ready. Send out if not.
Do not forget a strop. A shave ready edge will hast many, many uses if stroped properly
Learn to shave or learn to hone. Do not do both at the same time.
Eventually you will need to get a stone to refresh. 12K or equivalent lapping film and a glass plate
