As I work my way into this puck, the scent grows stronger, and that’s motivating. But at the same time, the soap itself is not diminishing. Even after a full and frothy load yesterday, the puck weighs the same this morning. This means that on average I’m using only 1.2 grams of soap per shave. No complaints about the performance. Last week with Mike's soaps was a pure pleasure. But at this rate of consumption, I'll have enough Bay Rum to keep me swaggering in lather until April 11. That fact takes a little wind out of the sails.
I don’t know how my neighbor Whiterook does it. He seems to be able to punch through a puck effortlessly, chewing up half a dozen tubs each year. Snaps to him!

Well sir, when you only have seven tubs of soap you tend to use them up.

Ok thank you... You saved me $40 with the usage of the word "oud".
My schnozz just can't get excited in any oud scents... thankfully (for my wallet).

Came out of Denver where it was chilly but got home to sub-zero temps and remembered why I like it so much here. It’s cold that hurts your face and that’s the way I like it. This morning, after a wonderful Black Velvet shave yesterday I thought to keep the Vetiver vibe alive and chose MdC Vetyver and loved it. My MdC just has a few shaves left so I best be hunting a replacement.

Memory Lane Monday ...
(or a reasonable facsimile thereof)
As it happens, I ordered PAA CaD and Clubguy two weeks ago. That order was largely the result of my rekindled interest in the vintage shaving and grooming scents that I grew up with. These are scents I may have seen my dad or uncles use, or smelled at the local barber shop, and possibly even used myself as a young man. So it is with great interest that I have been reading the recent related discussion by more discriminating shavers than me.
Those of you who read the fine print underneath "Memory Lane Monday" will see that exactness is not guaranteed. I added the disclaimer for a few reasons. First it makes some allowance for my limited ability to to distinguish between faithful and more approximate replicas, or to describe scents clearly - especially the details. Second, the leeway allows for homages which - perhaps by design - are not exact replicas.
This is the case with PAA Clubguy, which differs by design from Pinuad Clubman, to which Clubguy is an homage. Fragrantica readers describe Clubman notes as "Oakmoss, Citruses, Herbal Notes, Spicy Notes". OTOH the Clubguy product page, lists the Clubguy notes as "Top: Talc, Bergamot, Lime, Rosemary & Spearmint. Mid: Geranium, Lavender, Pepper, Tobacco. Base: Tonka Bean, Amber, Oakmoss, Vanilla. Fresh Citrus, Woody, Spicey, Green & Clean!" Douglas Smythe, the proprietor of PAA, describes his thinking on the above referenced product page.
I have no trouble discerning the nod to Pinaud when I sniff the products, so I am satisfied as far as "memory lane value" goes. I bought the soap/AS set, and IMO they are both fine products, and I am satisfied with both. If my dad could magically come back to life for one last shave, I think he would want to know where he could find them.
