Citrus as a holiday scent?  As little as Dickins from B&M means to me, Nordost is exactly opposite and scratches every Christmas itch.  Back in the day we kids ALWAYS got an orange in the toe of our stockings. The rest of the stocking was filled with salted in the shell peanuts, ribbon candy that as you sucked it melted open air bubbles that would cut your tongue to ribbons if you weren’t careful, and a chocolate covered treat shaped like a gumdrop but each had a different flavored sugar candy center.  They weren’t good chocolates but after riding around in the stocking getting a salty dusting from the peanuts, they were a pretty good sweet/salty experience.  There was usually a “Lifesaver Book” in there and I looked forward to the butter rum and wintergreen flavored rolls. Nobody even knows what those were anymore.  But the orange! And knowing that Santa always left the rest of the 50lbs box, was a treat.

Great recollection of our youth Lip.... My xmas morning treat memory was my grandmother's divinity with Texas pecans places in the center of the chunks. She was an Okie, lived in a
sod house early in her marriage. Thanks for that flashback Lip. Going to have to dig out an orange puck this season.

Vétyver (Martin de Candre) green clean vetiver

I’ve heard vetiver called ‘the poor man’s oud’. Both are oily, earthy, rank, and delicious, and both are addicting. But while real oud costs a small fortune for even a wee drop, very good vetiver oil can be had for less than the price of a sandwich. Today’s Martin de Candre Vétyver is loaded with good vetiver. It’s clean and earthy at the same time, and to me it smells like autumn. Like Lipripper660 I’m whipping up my lather using a Plisson synthetic brush. Good little tool that never fails to make a sublime cream. And just to keep this shave All Gaul, I’ve pulled out Guerlain’s Vetiver (the real smell of the tropics), along with my favorite French razor, the BiC Metal disposable (which I'm too embarrassed to show you).

... those Lifesaver's books always found a way into my Christmas stocking too. I had to ration the butter rum, loved them so much!
