King of Oud (Wholly Kaw) faded apple oud
Shave 26 ・ 68 g left

This tub of soap is over seven years old. As you would expect, the performance remains strong, but the scent has faded. To boost the aroma, I tried adding a swipe of inexpensive oud oil to my brush. At first, the sweet scent of the oil quickly vanished into the lather, leaving the shave itself unimpressive in terms of fragrance. But about an hour later, I caught a hint of the oud, a pleasant rosy wood. I’m not sure it was worth it, though. The fragrance was faint. I may have wasted that swipe of oil, but the experiment taught me not to use my good oils this way in the future. To make amends, I finished with a drop of Ensar’s Dhul Q, a powerful organic oud, a mere dot of which had me smelling like incense for the rest of the day.

I have an old triple milled puck of LEA soap that has lost its fragrance (it was never strong to begin with). I also use that puck as a hand soap, etc. To give it a nice fragrance, I just give it a splash of whatever Clubman aftershave I am using. Once a month seem to work fine. Classic Vanilla gives it an aroma not too different than from when it was new.

The Holy Black - Neroli Plus (Secret Stash 2024)

I'll never understand it. The ingredients are as basic as it gets, especially by today's standards. But, every single time I use any of The Holy Black soaps, I am overly impressed with every aspect.

I felt the 1.1 would be the gap for me so I started there. Smooth comfortable shave. A couple weepers that sealed on their own by the end of the shave. Nice first outing.
